Great material, but they take soooo long to deliver it. Twenty minutes of material in a one hour show. If you’re really into cycling, you’ll like it anyway.

It started innocently enough: me waxing my chains with a homemade recipe, a friend mentioned Silca, and the rest as they say, was a blown-mind with a new interest bordering on obsession with a smooth, quiet drivetrain. I cannot ride out of sight on a dark night but I love this aspect of cycling....Read full review »

I’m not even a cyclist anymore but I still find this podcast fascinating. It’s helping me understand the technique behind the mind blowing performances I’m seeing as a passionate fan of racing. The content here is a fine example of the uncanny similarities between Art and Science. Thanks fellas!

Probably my favorite cycling related podcast. Scratches my itch for knowledge on stuff that nobody really needs to know.. keep it up!

It’s hard to characterize the main character in this podcast, Josh Poertner. He’s some kind of autodidactic polymath who also seems to be a genuinely nice guy and pretty decent interviewer with an easy voice to listen to. I’ve passed the hours on many long rides during the pandemic ruminating...Read full review »

Have learnt a phenomenal amount from this podcast. Great content for the thinking cyclist

Six stars if some less chains where discussed on the show. The topic showed that their friction is not marginal; now on to the marginals again🙂

Love this podcast. I love the specifics and the unmarketed truth. My understanding of cycling efficiency, Aerodynamic, comfort, etc has grown substantially. I now ride faster, enjoy tinkering in my bikes, and I save money.

I put in a comment that was not critical. The comment wasn’t approved, but I did immediately start getting spam emails from SILCA.

The discussions in the Marginal Gains Podcast seem to closely match my interest in trying to BE more and think more critically about less-than-obvious factors that enhance my awareness and improve my odds at achieving an intended outcome. Although the podcast is primarily aimed at cycling...Read full review »

I have binge listened to all the episodes and have learnt so much (and I’m an ex full time rider that works in the cycling trade). Hands down the best cycling podcast out there.

Podcast and information is good. But he needs to stop saying “right?.... Right?” At the end of each sentence as if he’s looking for approval and unsure of what he is saying. Doesn’t sound confident and sounds like he’s questioning himself. Or, the other two guys could at least try to audibly show...Read full review »

Josh, Fatty, and Hottie, Thank you for making my now favorite podcast! I have binged through all of the episodes. The topics are great and I really appreciate the production effort you make - it is easy to hear even when driving in my old minivan and the better sound quality makes that Marginal...Read full review »

I have since deleted all other podcasts, this is the only podcast I need in life. Also the only podcast in which you’ll hear the phrase body centered cubic.

I came to the podcast from Josh’s interview on tire pressure on the Path Less Pedaled podcast. It’s like my eyes have been opened. In another life, I want to be a data scientist / aero engineer. Great podcast. Keep it up Josh

Josh has been riding and racing since he was a kid. He and his mom started developing cycling tools and products before he could drive. From Zipp to Silica there is nothing that Josh hasn’t looked to iterate and innovate. Great show for anyone that wants to get really granular into all the...Read full review »

Very informative and technical topics of anything having to do with marginal gains on the bike. Unless you like to nerd out on technical details and cycling history it may be way deeper than you want to go. However, If you do plunge you’ll be rewarded. Amazingly intricate and well presented technical podcast series by Joshua Poertner and the cycling team. Learn all about interesting facts and developments from material technology through hysteresis energy losses. Like listening to Dr Karl Kruszelnicki just relevant to cycling. If you want to know how the bolt is made that goes onto your bike, this is the podcast for you. If you want to know how your tire is made, this is the podcast. Heck, I can’t begin to explain how good this show is. I rarely review podcasts (or anything) but this podcast is so well put together and lacking all the usual b@ll@cks that these sort of podcasts come with I felt I had to write a review to say thanks. I was expecting a show about a few cycling hacks... A show I was expecting to cancel after a few episodes. This is beyond everything. Good balance of information, stories and banter between the hosts. I really like how they've merged sport, pop culture and math/science in a way that ends up being a lot about cycling, but not entirely about cycling. Made my hour on the trainer go by super fast and now waiting for more.Read full review »
