Good topics, but...
I will say that I do enjoy listening to Mom & Dad, but 50% of each podcast I find frustrating and think "Why am I listening to this?" It is an addictive podcast, but for me that comes from the topics that face parents today and things I will need to think about when I become a parent. The most annoying and (often) infuriating part of the podcast is Dan. I find him to be arrogant and making his parenting decisions at the behest of his extraordinarily enormous ego rather than for his children. At the start of this podcast he coined their phone number as "xxx-xxx-RUDE because that is what my daughter is to me", but in actuality rude is what Dan is to everyone else. I kind of find myself coming back to this podcast to listen to what high-horse comment he will say next about parenting like a previous reviewer said "In that Kardashian-trainwreck-kind-of-way". On the other hand, Allison seems to have a parenting style I would more likely adopt--very laid back and nonchalant. She isn't quite so judgmental and doesn't really regard herself in the highest esteem of parents which I think makes her a good parent to host a podcast since no parent is doing everything right all the time. I personally wouldn't really take any advice on any issue that either Dan or Allison gave because their lifestyles do not and will not ever match mine, but I like that their podcast presents current issues to discuss with your spouse and to research further. With this said and no matter how bi-polar this review seems, I will still continue to listen and subscribe and would probably recommend with the disclaimer that the hosts do not reflect my views of parenting and life in general.Read full review »

I listen to many podcasts, including several from Slate, but this one is an embarrassment, and I can't even hate listen. I love to learn about parenting issues, but as another listener commented, this is horrible miscasting of hosts. These two people are not representative of any segment of...Read full review »

As a grandparent, I am interested in hearing the childrearing situations that they discuss. These people are honest and intelligent. I wish Allison would stop dropping her voice into a growling, raspy tone towards the end of so many of her sentences, though. It is an affectation that many young...Read full review »
