I sent Arkady an email because I have been so deeply touched by this podcast. Russia has been a part of my live now for decades and this podcast helped me integrate things about the culture, the system, the incomprehensible at times choices that people make in a way that helped me understand....Read full review »

Arkardy is superb, but why are few of the episodes available? It’s a podcast. No need to subscribe to a magazine which is no longer relevant as it is cheap!

Episode 1 is like it really happened , I really appreciate. I am from Ukraine and I was at that time there, really scary. At that time the world was devided into those who support killing innocent people and to those who doesn’t care. I really appreciate for your podcast 💕💕❤️❤️❤️

It’s good content but just too slow. It out my entire road trip team to sleep and I was left driving in silence mulling over the fate of Russia.

I have just listened to episode 9 which was delayed to include the death of Navalny. I’m not sure whether to recommend it, despite its brilliance. To me it is compelling but I’m sure to many more it will be heartbreaking. Whatever your conclusion, this is excellent journalism. Thank you the...Read full review »

There is hope while such people like Maria the lawyer is still out there helping people without any fear!

Not good enough. We are supposed to be enchanted with these scraps? Russian intellectual snobbery at its clearest.

Are you actually kidding me? The murders, rapes and genocide of Ukrainians continues everyday but ESPECIALLY right after a ruzzian shahed drone (launched by ruzzians) attacked a building in Odesa killing 12 Ukraines, 5 of who were children, we are perpetually centering these ruzzians again???...Read full review »

Next Year In Moscow, as the title implies, draws on Russian history to make sense of Russia’s present and consider its future. The Economist team’s presentation is very sophisticated and Arkady is a journalist with the soul of a poet. Each episode is a gem and the most recent one, which follows...Read full review »

A podcast all about how awful it has been for Russians since their country invaded Ukraine. Thanks a lot

Beautifully (and tragically) presented. We all hope for the Russia imagined in the final episode.

So encouraging and also humbling to hear from Russians who are prepared, despite the risks, to stand up and speak up for what they believe in - a democratic, free Russia. Let’s hope that one day soon their wish comes true. “Truth is power”.

Wonderful journalism. The production of this is top notch - the original music and Arkady’s mesmerizing narration produce a compelling and emotional experience. More than once I was left listening in tears.

The nuance I didn’t know I so deeply wanted and needed in coverage of Russia! Everyone interviewed - and the host himself - speaks so movingly about the complicated country they come from, whether they live there now or not. Thank you for making this, Economist!

Earlier this year I read my grandfather’s copy of “I chose Freedom” written by a Russian defector in 1946. He detailed first hand Stalins senseless paranoid purges, murders, gulags and total control via fear and terror the Russian people. This is a fantastic podcast that is incredibly well researched and put together beautifully! Whilst providing an unfiltered view of Russia, it also reminds the listener of a different Russia that exists and could exist. One that is often forgotten about in the current reporting on the country.

This podcast is important as well as very engaging. If you want to understand the pulse of Russia currently and how it got to where it is today, this is a must listen. Please continue to publish more episodes.

This is by far the best podcast I have listened to in a very long time! The reporting is sensitive, objective, eye-opening and often heart-wrenching. I enjoyed this podcast. My favorite episode was number 7 with the interview of Maria Eismont. This lady is amazing. Ms. Eismont is a lawyer but her role as a compassionate and humanitarian advocate is what put her apart of other characters I heard in this series. Great job!

I have just listened to Episode 8 which I think is the last. Arkardy, this podcast is a triumph. I think Navalny and all your earlier guests are inspirational.
