I love this podcast and many of the topics discussed are incredibly interesting. However I find some episodes unlistenable due to the sound quality of some of the interviewees, which can be really annoying when they are discussing a cool topic.

I first found this podcast when I was looking for something new to listen to a few years ago. I was searching for something educational and informative. This podcast certainly fits the bill, at least for me. Susannah is good at setting the scene at the start of each episode and asks intelligent...Read full review »

I was spellbound by this episode. Francesca Kay spoke so movingly and beautifully about her book. She has obviously done huge amounts of research and yet was so modest. It was a pleasure to listen to such an articulate and thoughtful guest.

Hey professor your an absolute bore and a shocker for changing your wanky posh accent. Yeah we get your a high class individual but with all them brains your still to dumb to not work out that your audience is the general public and we don’t care for your titles. It alienates you. Try to be like...Read full review »

… a lot of what the Tudor era was about but I’m learning and enjoying so much. Historian-host Suzannah Lipscomb and guest historians are excellent!

Loved the latest episode on Jane Seymour, great to hear a different slant on her character. However Suzannah should really go to see SIX before she makes up her mind that it pits the Queens against each other. She may be in for a surprise!

I love to listen to Not Just The Tudors. The episode Murder in the Stuart Court was amazing! The telling of Thomas Overbury’s story by Alastair Bellany was masterful. I’ve actually listened to the episode multiple times because it’s so enrapturing. It’s a complex and interconnected story that...Read full review »

The only problem with listening to this podcast is that I just assume that everyone I speak to is also a regular listener and wants to talk about Tudor England. How could they not be?
KPMridge via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/07/24
Just listening to How to Survive in Tudor England for the second time. This is the most informative episode yet. So much to take in, it really helps me to understand what life must have been like. Love all the episodes and great listening when walking the dogs, ironing and dusting.

...too many fiction writers, too much fan-womaning(?) for historical figures... The English have issues yall. Funny how they obsess over Norman conquest and Henry VIII, but crickets about 100s of years of Empire, the pinnacle of their power and wealth. huh. weird. 😒

This podcast is really enjoyable, informative and engaging. The topics are well-researched and presented in a very successful, listenable way. The host is knowledgable and passionate in the field (and has a really nice voice). Looking forward to every episode

I love the podcast and the topics, but the latest episode is one I had to skip (again) since the guest’s voice is so scratchy and very hard to listen to. Suzanne has such a lovely voice. Too bad.

I used to enjoy the History Hit series immensely but it’s truly gone downhill, especially over the past year. I admire all of the hosts and used to get their now cancelled newsletters and follow on their social media. However, over time the amount of advertising in 25 minutes is astonishing....Read full review »

‘Not Just The Tudors’ has re-vitalised my interest in the 16th and 17th centuries. There’s such joy to be felt in listening to learned, articulate people chatting about areas of Tudor history that I know little about.

Because of this podcast I became a paid subscriber. I love the conversational aspect of 99.9% of the content. Some of the guests have so much information to convey they end up talking quite at length without interjection by Dr Lipscomb. That can be a challenge to listen to, but it is such a minor...Read full review »

Not Just the Tudors is in my top three favorites podcasts. The gorgeous voiced Suzannah Lipscomb dives deep into the history of the age, and we are reminded that historical figures are humans with familiar motivations that the modern listener can understand. Since I’m new, I’ve jumped around...Read full review »

I’ve been a longtime listener to this podcast and subscribed to history hits to get the subscriber edition of Not Just the Tudors. The most recent episode with the cross over with Matt Lewis about the princes in the tower was great! Both guests made great points and kept the conversation engaging! I’ve just caught up with the episode on the Elizabethan age and Shakespeare - really enjoyed it! Excellent insights into life and thought. Anyone of any age studying Shakespeare would learn so much. Suzannah is scholarly and entertaining- brilliant podcast!

Listening to the pantomime episode is very confusing ( and being British I’m familiar with panto and Punch and Judy. Why doesn’t the expert actually answer the questions?
