I wasn’t expecting to see Ken Burns as a guest on this show. Nice get! Really coming up in the world. Love the show, thanks!

The subject matter is varied and engaging. The podcasts are detailed without being overwhelming. I invariably end up conducting my own mini research forays as a result - just what I like

This is a terrible show… upper class over educated posh English women forcing a boring topic on others and trying to be woke at the same time it’s ridiculous. one that almost turns me of wanting to listen to historical content… Fine line to make it interesting and not like school work and...Read full review »

I really love how Suzannah respects and listens to her special guest on the different subjects that she presents. There’s no judgment only appreciation for what that particular subject matter expert brings to the table. I’m not a history genius, I just love listening to it and she makes it worth...Read full review »

I have only recently discovered this podcast and I am loving it. I love history and I’m enjoying all the other History Hit’s. Thoroughly enjoying learning and continuing being curious. Thank you

Suzannah is amazing and this podcast is fascinating and entertaining. I always learn something new!

I’ve always had a soft spot for this era since studying it at school and have learned so much more through this podcast. I love how knowledgeable Suzannah is and her voice is the best! I also really enjoy hearing historians geek out together it’s so fun to hear the passion they have.

I don't know why it should be a surprise at this point--Suzannah has been a first rate tv presenter for years now, but she absolutely excels in this format as well. The episodes shed light on an impressively diverse range of well-conceived themes, and the host's rapport with her guests is...Read full review »

Absolutely brilliant. So much fascinating and enlightening information. Very easy to absorb. Not just the Tudors is one of my favourites.

I’ve been a fan for the past couple of years, and it just keep getting better. New historical discoveries along with interesting guests. Love it, thank you!

Dr Lipscomb is knowable, professional without being overly academic- in others she always peaks my interest in topics I might not be drawn to initial.

Interesting subjects, experts and perspectives, 100% awesome!

Just Amazing really good history podcast one of the best
rockchick500 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 07/11/24
So many, very interesting topics but often the guests spend the majority of the time talk about themselves, or their process, or their style of writing, or how the research was done as opposed to the actual subject. Just listen to the female pirate episode and I’m almost all the way through...Read full review »

I love history, but have always struggled to make sense of the Tudor Period as there is just so much material to sift through. These podcasts have made it all fall into place with super interesting topics and fantastic interviews. It has been my favorite podcast for quite a while now. Love the...Read full review »

The guests are interesting, expert, and well worth listening to, The host is fine but the entire production is undermined by the distraction of the background music. The volume is greater at intervals but generally It is just loud enough to sound like some kind of interference behind the voice of...Read full review »

Great podcast. The history is well presented and the guests mostly keep their personal political leanings out of the conversation. Very rare in podcasting these days. Much appreciated. Well done.

I wrote a critical review which has not been published. It was reasonable and contained no swear words or personal attacks so it should have been published.

I love this show, and I was very interested in what the guest was saying on the forbidden desire episode, but there was a very high-pitched sound that made it impossible (for me, anyway) to listen to. I don't know if it was a whistling coming from his microphone or from his voice or from some...Read full review »

This is a new podcast that I found and now reach for it every time I have spare time - gardening/cleaning etc. I am learning so much and so many interesting topics.

I never miss an episode of Not Just the Tudors because I hear cutting-edge research not available to the general population. The guests are so experienced in their field, yet they are willing to talk about their work in a way that the interested general listener can understand.

It’s a wonderful podcast, really.

I’ve tried to listen to this podcast for about a year. Some topics are interesting. Rarely a guest speaker is tolerable in their conceit! None of the “jokes” are even almost funny. I’ve wanted so many episodes to be good and they could have been, but the guest speakers are just so obnoxious in...Read full review »

I love this podcast and many of the topics discussed are incredibly interesting. However I find some episodes unlistenable due to the sound quality of some of the interviewees, which can be really annoying when they are discussing a cool topic.

I first found this podcast when I was looking for something new to listen to a few years ago. I was searching for something educational and informative. I was spellbound by this episode. Francesca Kay spoke so movingly and beautifully about her book. She has obviously done huge amounts of research and yet was so modest. It was a pleasure to listen to such an articulate and thoughtful guest.

… a lot of what the Tudor era was about but I’m learning and enjoying so much. Historian-host Suzannah Lipscomb and guest historians are excellent!
PinkyL'Amour via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/28/24
Loved the latest episode on Jane Seymour, great to hear a different slant on her character. However Suzannah should really go to see SIX before she makes up her mind that it pits the Queens against each other. She may be in for a surprise!

I love to listen to Not Just The Tudors. The episode Murder in the Stuart Court was amazing! The telling of Thomas Overbury’s story by Alastair Bellany was masterful. The only problem with listening to this podcast is that I just assume that everyone I speak to is also a regular listener and wants to talk about Tudor England. How could they not be?
KPMridge via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/07/24
Just listening to How to Survive in Tudor England for the second time. This is the most informative episode yet. So much to take in, it really helps me to understand what life must have been like. Love all the episodes and great listening when walking the dogs, ironing and dusting.

...too many fiction writers, too much fan-womaning(?) for historical figures... The English have issues yall. Funny how they obsess over Norman conquest and Henry VIII, but crickets about 100s of years of Empire, the pinnacle of their power and wealth. huh. weird. 😒
5onalee via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/22/24
This podcast is really enjoyable, informative and engaging. The topics are well-researched and presented in a very successful, listenable way. The host is knowledgable and passionate in the field (and has a really nice voice). Looking forward to every episode

I love the podcast and the topics, but the latest episode is one I had to skip (again) since the guest’s voice is so scratchy and very hard to listen to. Suzanne has such a lovely voice. Too bad.

I used to enjoy the History Hit series immensely but it’s truly gone downhill, especially over the past year. I admire all of the hosts and used to get their now cancelled newsletters and follow on their social media. ‘Not Just The Tudors’ has re-vitalised my interest in the 16th and 17th centuries. There’s such joy to be felt in listening to learned, articulate people chatting about areas of Tudor history that I know little about.

Because of this podcast I became a paid subscriber. I love the conversational aspect of 99.9% of the content. That can be a challenge to listen to, but it is such a minor...Read full review »

Not Just the Tudors is in my top three favorites podcasts. I’ve been a longtime listener to this podcast and subscribed to history hits to get the subscriber edition of Not Just the Tudors.
