Excited for this podcast, but disappointed with first episode
I was excited for this podcast, but disappointed by the first episode. I’m hopeful for the future episodes though, and will give it another listen. I’m not saying there wasn’t some great stuff in the first episode, but one particular point upset me. My thoughts: I found it interesting that you and Angela talked about how publishing industry would have a lot more success if they listened more to and retained their people of color authors because otherwise if they aren't happy and they leave, you're losing a large portion of your reading population because of that. I completely agree with that. Businesses shouldnt dismiss a large portion of a population, because you will LOSE them. But then she goes on to lump all "pro-lifers" into one category of saying they all believe you should feel shame if you don't want to be pregnant--that is not right. I'm sure some people feel that way, but I can say without a doubt that I am pro-life but also believe it is okay to feel whatever way you feel when you're pregnant--including not wanting to be pregnant. The only feeling I WOULDN'T say you should feel is shame because of that. I don't appreciate you lumping all people who are pro-life together with a negative comment because that is a sure-fire quick way to lose LISTENERS. Again, this is an example of dismissing a portion of a group. But maybe it's okay if you lose conservative, pro-life listeners? Because in today's culture, it's almost trendy to hate on conservatives. You talk about being accepting of all kinds of viewpoints, but right there on your first episode you shut out a viewpoint you obviously disagree with. It's almost as if people today are so aggressive about being "open minded" and "accepting"--but they only mean that if your beliefs are liberal. "If you have the same beliefs as me, you are welcome here. But not if you don't. Or you can stay and listen, but it's so that you can learn a lesson." When you paint broad brush strokes about a group, and they're obviously NEGATIVE attributes you assign to that group, who wouldn't be against the viewpoints of that group? But what if your assumptions are wrong? What if you are deciding beliefs for a group that aren't actually true at all? You can't be open-minded and accepting, but have caveats. That's hypocritical. I was eagerly looking forward to your podcast because I loved the premise behind it, but now I am wondering if it's possible to have any type of media (be it podcast, video, or article) that is peaceful rather than polarizing. Open-minded and accepting, rather than with a political slant.Read full review »

I love Ingrid and the guests on the show. Christina however I’m not sold on, she doesn’t know how to order take out or purchase a journal online? A small flaw in an otherwise enjoyable podcast.
