was recced this podcast for this episode and well…for a show where one of the actors has said he actively seeks out things like this, that comment about him was unnecessary (and rude) and just objectively wrong. could’ve been edited out.

I love this podcast! It’s very insightful and funny and I’ve gotten some recommendations for fantastic movies by listening to it. The day that the best films of the year drops is always a holiday in my books.

TRUST ANY CRITIC WHO SAYS VELVET GOLDMINE IS THEIR FAVE FILM!! I actually found this podcast in searching for episodes that have covered that perfect film as I research for my book, on said film…. There is not a lot of content out there which is both not surprising and surprising. Ha! But alas,...Read full review »

This podcast is a recent discovery and it is such a delight! I’ve been listening to the whole back catalog while I work. The hosts are entertaining and well-informed about the artistic, cultural, and historic merits of the films they watch, and also about the film industry itself. They have...Read full review »

Genuinely great and never misses. One of the few reviews of movies like Fresh and Promising Young Woman that calls out the shallowness of these types of movies while also highlighting better female horror movies. Honestly I don't watch 90% of the movies but they are always entertaining and...Read full review »

I follow a lot of podcasts. Like embarrassingly a lot. I’m pretty good about keeping up with them, but sometimes I go weeks where I’m just not in the mood for politics or true crime or comedy or any if the myriad fictional series I follow. This is never the case with Overinvested. When there’s a...Read full review »

Most layman podcasts reviewers will go straight toward likes/dislikes and nothing else. This isn’t one of them. Morgan and Gavia have an interesting dynamic. In general Gavia is more into pop culture favorites like the Marvel films and Morgan preferred the more independent/art house films. But...Read full review »

I discovered Overinvested during the first lockdown and look forward each week to a new episode. The hosts are engaging and engaged; each episode is well-researched and insightful, and the hosts have great chemistry, clearly genuinely respecting one another’s viewpoint, even if they don’t always...Read full review »

Absolutely one of my favourite podcasts, covering a wide range of media, pulpy low brow to high art, through a fannish lens. Great for both deep dives into things I adore (hello Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and discovering new movies and shows that weren’t on my radar.

I just finished Phillip Pullman’s Book of Dust: La Belle Sauvage, and was looking for a discussion of it, because I just wasn’t ready to leave that world yet (still not), and I found this podcast. It was just what I was looking for. The hosts shared my enthusiasm for the author’s work, and this...Read full review »

I started listening to this show in quarantine and worked my way through the entire log of episodes (because what else was there to do). Gavia and Morgan's discussions helped me reanalyze some old favorites and got me to watch and read some stuff that I previously hadn't. As difficult as...Read full review »

I found Overinvested podcast years ago and still listen each new episode. The rapport between the presenters is sweet and I adore the fact that they don’t necessarily agree with eachother as to they liked a movie or not. They clearly know their stuff and add extra titbits of great movie trivia...Read full review »

Nothing in my pod app is as agonizing as when I have an Overinvested episode sitting there that I can’t listen to yet because I still haven’t seen the thing, just trapped on the other side of the glass from the GOOD COMMENTARY from the WISE, FUNNY WOMEN. I had only listened to three episodes, when I realized that this podcast isn’t for me. It comes across as gossipy and I am looking for more serious analyses and insights into movies. The hosts sound nice and fun, but they have a very one-sided approach to the movies/series they review.

I’ve loosely followed Gavia’s writing for years, so I can’t believe I didn’t listen to her podcast until August 2017.
