Thank you for a conversation that everyone should put into practice in their own lives. The media we listen to, read, or watch should not be trying to change our minds or reinforce our beliefs but instead should encourage us to think. Question Everything is just the start to a much bigger...Read full review »

I tried the 6 most recent episodes. The host of this show is willing to question everything except for his own internal biases. He helps others “see the light”, while also taking the role of said light. This show does not feel like journalism, the way other NPR programs do. It feels like the...Read full review »

This is hard to review. It’s a well made show by earnest and talented people but it’s also navel gazing and almost impossibly naive. It’s weird to listen to someone handwringing about good journalism as opposed to you know, just making it.

I never write reviews, but this podcast is just so great that I had to! Every episode has made me think about something I hadn’t considered, has taught me something I didn’t know, and most importantly, has helped me try to make sense of the breakdown of shared truth in this country.

Crazy where USA is right now when it comes to telling the truth. Hopefully it’s not too late! Thank you so much for all the HARD work!

Very ambitious premise. I will keep listening.

If you care about the future of journalism and democracy - they are inseparable - listen to this podcast by Brian Reed and a host of their talented podcasters. A very thoughtful take at a crucial time.

Brian is a master at work, been following him since his days at TAL. Great to see him independent and diving into the topics near to his heart. Hoping to see this show move the needle for the way journalism is approached.

This is so informative and I can relate. We’ve been married 47+ years and we definitely have different opinions on the news. Thanks for doing this. I hear every day that the mainstream media is biased. I think some are but the majority are fair and unbiased. Great work.

I love the concept of looking at journalism through a journalistic lens. So far all 3 episodes have pulled me in for different reasons. It feels like being on a hike. The territory is familiar, but I’ve got no idea what’s up around the river-bend. I’ll be tuning in regularly to find out.

I really wanted to like this show more than I did, but there were some things that just threw me off and I couldn’t love 100%. For example in the Pompei episode, the entire role of the female co-host just seemed to be to nod and marvel at what Brian was saying and ask the occasional question. I...Read full review »

I just wanted to say that S-Town was the very first podcast that I ever listened to and it made a difference in my life. It was absolutely captivating and I felt so deeply for him. It gave me human connection when I had none and introduced me to podcasts. This gift continues thank you for...Read full review »

It’s so Important for people not schooled in journalism to understand the mandate to check sources. Just saying something doesn’t make it true and quotable. Critical thinking should begin in grade school curriculum. There is a lot to take in listening to this podcast. Very informative and worth...Read full review »

I love the show and I think the question is raises is such an important one. I wonder if future episodes will question the notion of objectivity itself. In journalism, research and other disciplines is it even possible to be “objective” or “neutral” or do we need to get more honest with ourselves...Read full review »

Great premise for a podcast. I would absolutely love to see if you could get Dan Carlin on the podcast. He is the creator of Hardcore History and Common Sense. He’s not a journalist, but the Trump era of “Fake News” and everyone having they’re own “truths” made him walk away from political...Read full review »

It is vividly clear that the excellence of S-Town is due far less to the story and far more to the journalist. I will listen to or read anything Brian Reed creates.

I’m here for the ride, I liked STown and I’m curious about reflections on journalism. I came across similar walls, questions like “so what?” After presenting information when I was studying anthropology. What is disappointing me is that liberals in the USA seem so naive about what convinces...Read full review »

Much said about how sharing a story “might help someone”, how people do this even though it is unclear what they may get out of it…. Nothing said about how it helps YOU. You are the person being helped. if your work was at all about the other person, helping them, then you wouldn’t be so focused...Read full review »

I’ve listened to the first two episodes of Question Everything with Brian Reed, and I’m intrigued. It feels like eavesdropping on journalists pondering the value of their existence—an interesting blend of arrogance, exhibitionism and vulnerability. Who knew? I’ll give it 4 stars for being...Read full review »

Episode 1 me me me you you me me me me you me me me. Episode 2 me me me me me me me me me me me me me x4/5. A shallow pool of east coast podcast journalists. Journalism is bigger than this. A great idea on paper but is a navel gazing and back patting exercise. I don’t think I’ll listen to...Read full review »

What a timely topic in this day and age of mistrust in journalism, and lines blurred between journalism and entertainment. So far the conversations have been thought provoking and insightful. Love this peek behind the curtain. Can’t wait for future episodes!

This is an interesting and timely premise. I’m curious to see how it will evolve as they go more real time.

I’m waiting for the show to develop beyond the current navel-gazing posture. I really like the premise and think there’s a ton to mine here but it doesn’t seem like we’ve landed on what the show’s format is meant to be. Is it a collection of industry conversations that will add to something...Read full review »

Thought provoking and honest discourse. Love to hear any conservative come on show n defend their points. Welcome exchange of all opinions but don’t see that in media.
meinconcord via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/17/24
First two episodes are gold. Can’t wait to hear what else they dig into. If the first episode is a compass, I expect (and look forward to) more episodes ripping open and exposing the guts of journalism - where we‘ve gone wrong and how we can do better.
