“I really enjoy the contents of this podcast, the topics of discussion are usually very interesting and the discussion itself is usually well conducted--props to Ira Flatow for that. On the other hand, I hate his interruptions--not when he stops his guests to ask fo a quick definition, for example, that's perfectly acceptable and actually contributes to how great this podcast is--sometimes he will stops a guest in midsentence and say "we have to take a break."
He literally chooses the worst possible time for a break, where it isn't a question of suspence but is just confusing and really takes away from the flow of the discussion. After the interruption, he spends a long time trying to summarize the sentence he'd interrupted, often getting it wrong. It's extremely annoying and actually makes him appear quite rude.
I also dislike his conduct of technology-specific discussions, as he doesn't appear very tech-savvy himself. He's not even comfortable with the language and will often use widely accepted terminology incorrectly, making me chuckle and distracting me from the discussion at hand. I know this show is supposed to appeal to a wide audience, but sounding like a technophob is not as endering as you might think--other technophobs likely won't notice your terminology blunders, but technophils will be annoyed by them.
Overall, great podcast with a not so great host.”Read full review »

Ira Flatow manages to ask all the silliest questions and few of the most important ones -- and is always striving to make a wisecrack. In a perfect world he'd be sent back to the lab (or wherever he came from) and...”Read full review »

“Science podcasts (from Scientific American, Nature, Discovery News, Johns Hopkins) are a true blessing and make my exercise routines almost bearable. This NPR program covers some interesting topics each week, but Ira Flatow has got to be -- even after years of doing the show -- the most oafishly...”Read full review »

“It's a great podcast. Light little facts, sometimes they have some really interesting stuff. Unfortunately, it doesn't play on iPod.”Read full review »
