The wows just kept coming as I binge listened to all episodes of Shandee’s Story. As if Shandee’s story isn’t harrowing enough, the QLD Health DNA lab’s failures of epic proportions and subsequent cover ups are absolutely mind blowing. I am praying that Shandee and her family will get the justice...Read full review »

Cannot believe this podcast truly needed the replaying of endless text messages with all excessive swearing and abuse in order to get the point across.

What a tragic story. I so hope they find Shandee’s killer. She deserved so much more than life offered. I enjoyed the in-depth long-form journalism of Hedley Thomas. I may have missed this in the podcast, and if so, I apologize, will the samples tested for DNA that came back NO DNA, be retested...Read full review »

A phenomenal piece of journalism. Rest in peace Shandee.

Listened to all episodes of shandees story and shandees legacy up to dec 2022. Quite upsetting conduct by the Queensland government. Hadley is great at these podcasts

Even after listening to Episode 3, where the author emphasizes numerous times that those text messages weren't present at the time of the trial, it is clear that the deceased person had deep personal issues, which might have been due to her age but were inevitable. The whole podcast...Read full review »

Could that statement possibly be MORE out of touch? How “ivory tower” can a comment possibly be? From a woman. I’m absolutely horrified. This is a GROTESQUE miscarriage of justice. Utterly grotesque. I was looking forwards to season 2 to learn more about Shandee’s Legacy, but I’m only up to episode 2 and wondering what’s going on. Snippets from Austin powers, and the Clinton musical, and backstory about the ten tenors? I’m not sure if you get more revenue for episodes over 1 hour but that’s...Read full review »

Amazing insight into the prosecution short comings of John Peros in the murder of Shandee Blackburn. The amount of unheard evidence and testimonies in his trial is staggering and makes it no surprise that when the evidence was presented in full in the coronial inquest the coroner gave the...Read full review »

I am beyond astonished that a forensic science lab could get so much wrong. I can’t believe that other labs around the world have not made some of these mistakes. If I were a detective in Queensland Police and a case failed to hold due to failure of forensic evidence, I would be beside myself. As...Read full review »

I like the narrator's voice. The podcast is a bit too long. Some repetitions. But really clear explaination that got me soo mad at the DNA laboratory. This is a real scandal!Read full review »

I feel so sorry for Shandee’s family, getting so close to answers but disappointed yet again by the institutions that are supposed to ultimately protect the public and ensure justice. But it does highlight that real life justice is always at the mercy of budgets and politics. At least...Read full review »

I am enjoying the podcast but I am wanting Heldley to move on from blaming one person. We get the message, she messed up....but it's time to move on and stop obsessing about one person. Serious overtones of Elizabeth Holmes coming from the evidence in the second inquiry - a collective effort, by those who knew the truth about the DNA yields, to conceal and squash the real story. Elizabeth Holmes is in jail because she swindled investors out of their money. QLD Health’s DNA lab...Read full review »

I’ve been such a supporter of this podcast - Shandee’s Story was brilliant and you’re expose into the problems at the DNA laboratory was top-notch. Was great, spot on until you start persecuting some poor woman who’s been dragged into this, nitpicking over minor anomalies. Yes- feel total outrage over what happened originally. Stick to that, but stop trying to divide the world into heroes and villains. . You’ve totally lost me. .

Doctor who used to work at lab finds problems. Enquiry set up. Whistleblower unit set up as per doctors request. Then that doctor doesn’t use the whistleblower unit. Lack of credibility now

Another incredible story of a young woman who has tragically lost her life, who has been let down by the system. I really liked the story but after episode 8 it was a struggle. So much repetition about DNA, to simply say “we get it” the lab is the issue, the premier and health minister aren’t looking into it. The episodes can be much shorter with the key facts.

Wow! I can not believe judges in Australia can have so much opinion or can infuse their own Defense of a defendant?! Shandee’s story is so beautifully narrated by Headley Thomas. It has been engaging, yet shocking hearing this story, and amazing the impact it has had on uncovering injustice in QLD’sc labs. The research into the podcast and ongoing updates from the inquiry was excellent. Shandees Story was a ground breaking podcast and all those associated with it should be rightly celebrated. Shandees Legacy however is a let down. Full of unneeded repetition, backslapping and indulgent unrelated digressions which at times diminish the gravity of the inquiry

Loving Shandee’s Legacy. Appalling from all aspects. The DNA lab, the government, the injustice for Shandee and Olympia and who knows how many more, and John Peros is ever-the victim, isn’t he?

Both Shandee’s Story and Shandee’s Legacy are great podcasts, however, the melodramatic, overwrought flowery language from Matt Condon’s contributions are an unwelcome intrusion into otherwise great straightforward journalism.

Amazing journalism from Headley and team. This is one of the best podcasts you’ll ever listen to. My heart goes out to Shandee’s family - no one should have to go through this much heartache. You deserve justice. Are there any updates on retesting the original forensic samples??
