I’ve been listening for years but listening to your Sirk discussion finally got me off my duff and into this review space. I’m learning so much and I LOVE how fluidly you go with whatever and wherever your guest takes the convo. Just a genuinely smart and engaging show.

Thanks to Norm for doing this. I’ve been enjoying it a ton. There’s something about listening to Norm and his guests just talk movies the way they do. I can and often do listen to it all day.

Revisit your favourite films through the eyes of the filmmakers / actors/ writers who are obsessed with them. It’s cool.

sadly we can’t skip the host but listen closely to the men...they have the language down but their true feelings (racism & sexism) come through loud and clear...

In a sea of film-related content, SEMcast stands out. Great host – professional, funny, insightful and humane – amazing range of film industry guests, and films that range from ‘The Shining’, ‘Nights of Cabiria’ and ‘All About Eve’ to ‘Mortal Kombat’, ‘Batman Returns’ and ‘They Live’, you get...Read full review »

This is just a great podcast about movies. The host is intelligent and passionate about movies. The talks are consistently lively and well-informed. If you love movies, this is for you.

It’s a real pleasure to listen to Norm and his guests dive into a movie , what works and why, the context of the filmmaker’s work. Just as much excitement and forethought is applied to 80’s action movie or a decent art house film. Not too pretentious, but never shallow. Love love love this...Read full review »

Awesome episode.

I really enjoy the deep-dive on movies Both the host and guest come armed with great insights and cool annecdotes about the film's making. Great selection too. I love it when the guest picks an oddball flick like Superman 3 to talk about, and to Wilner's credit, he always sounds engaged...Read full review »

Episode 184, marking three years of SEMcasts, is definitely a “very special episode”, longer and more wide-ranging. But it’s a perfect example of what this podcast does so well: being insightful and enthusiastic. So many of these have led me to rewatch the movie, or check out something I wouldn’t...Read full review »

This is a podcast by, with, and for people who love movies. All kinds (the people and the movies)! Norm Wilner, the host, is a film critic, and his guests are folks who work in the film/entertainment business - in other words, these are always people who have spent a lot of time thinking about...Read full review »

This is one of the most articulate and erudite podcasts I listen to. I am from Texas so I thought the Canada catalyst behind this would make this a bit inaccessible, but this is simply not the case. The discussions ave universal appeal and accessibility. Joe Bob says Check it out.

Great conversations about movies with people who truly love them. Dexter the Dog is the ultimate interviewer sidekick.

Norm Wilner loves everything about the movie experience. With Someone Else's Movie, he tapped into something great: the actor/director/filmmaker as NERD. My favourite is still his conversation with Kris Bruun about Gremlins and favourite Christmas movies.Read full review »

I can't believe it's took me this long to write something in this space. I'm a day-oner and proud of it! Listen: there is really no one out there quite like Norm. It’s tough to argue against the idea that his encyclopaedic knowledge of film is the fulcrum of this show, but that would...Read full review »

Smart. Insightful. Hilarious. Norm is a skilled interviewer and die hard film geek. He makes you feel like he and his guests are hanging out in your living room, talking about movies we love. Deeply entertaining and thought provoking.

What is more fun than listening to passionate, knowledgable people talk at length about your favorite movie? Film critic Norm Wilner chats at length with a director, actor or other related creator about their favorite movie--one that they did not make. The films range from the blockbuster to...Read full review »

Yes. This is a movie analysis podcast that never panders, takes its time, and digs deep. These aren't reviews, nor excuses for snark or stand-up routines - they're wide ranging discussions (with lots of delicious tangents). The approach is respectful, erudite, and rich with the passions...Read full review »

Norm Wilner's SOMEONE ELSE'S MOVIE is just about the best film podcast around these days. Just two people (occasionally more) talking about a film that the guest likes for wahtever reason. As the guests are usually entertainment people who know whereof they speak, and Wilner is...Read full review »

There aren’t many movie-podcast hosts who can go from geeking out about Buckaroo Banzai one week to detailing anxious border crossings with the Criterion laserdisc of Salo in their bag the next, and make both episodes engaging and insightful in the process. A fun podcast by a guy who really knows film and a bunch of interesting guests. It’s great to hear people in the industry talk about why certain movies appeal to them. It’s accessible and compelling, no matter how deep your interest in film criticism goes.

Each episode is a conversation around a single movie chosen by the guest, and they are uniformly insightful and entertaining thus far.

The format for this podcast features a novel approach to the discussion of film: instead of the outsider’s perspective of a critic, or the voice of somebody directly involved in a project, Wilner’s guests are industry insiders who have no involvement with the movie being discussed. This allows...Read full review »

Nice to hear some love for RONIN, a modern classic of action filmmaking. As both Norm and Mark note, one of it's most appealing characteristics is the robust professionalism both behind and in front of the camera. It's unfortunate that Frankenheilmer's commentary isn't on the...Read full review »
