Since watching Repertoire on Netflix, I’ve desperately longed for more on Pat Springleaf and I was not disappointed by this. Loved it. Couldn’t stop listening. James Acaster comedy is high class 👌

A bit pantomime-esque and silly, but did make me laugh & is oddly charming. Couldn’t quite place the tone, but it reminded me of things we did at college…

Probably the greatest recordings in the history of audio based entertainment.

This is a cute premise but it’s not as good as Acaster’s original standup but as Springleaf. The casting seems like he called in favors from friends, but some of the voice acting seems stilted. Other regulars are a little mush-mouthed and wouldn’t have made it past professional casting. The...Read full review »

Listens to this while delayed at an airport, made me laugh out loud. Hilarious commentary on the ridiculousness of life….. or maybe it was just me. Acaster = Hilarious

James Acaster is brilliant! This is not an example of that.

This is all levels of absolutely unhinged and, fortunately, that’s *exactly* how I love my comedy. Chaotic, multi-level, unhinged madness. JA forever. Also, v nice for my skills to get a mention in Ep 4, 23:04. Thanks guys.

The best podcast I have ever listened to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting premise. Not funny. Bad improv(?) by the guests. Kemah Bob has a voice for silent podcasts. You could insert nails on a chalkboard for her parts, and it would be less grating, and funnier. An important feature for an audio format.

No idea how he does it but James Acaster is genuinely odd and genuinely funny at exactly the same time

Amazing writing to make the format work. Great cast and fantastic at helping the listener visualise what is happening without seeing it. James Acaster is incredible as always!

While I didn’t contribute to the kickstarter (which I’m pretty glad of now), I was looking forward to this. Unfortunately, it’s really not good. It feels like a bunch of comedians in a room entertaining themselves with in-jokes you have no context for rather than making something that is funny...Read full review »

James Acaster is about as funny as a wet carrot

I’ve liked pretty much everything Acaster does. Fifteen minutes into episode one - I just don’t understand it - I cant find the humor anywhere

An immense and mind blowing whirlwind featuring a plethora of our comedy favourites. Tall tales of an alternate life that blend warped cameos with fictional characters. I want more of this style of comedy podcast!
Oliver Howe via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/05/24
Why is everything James Acaster works on so brilliant? Why must he be so charming and funny? You have officially ruined all other men for me, Acaster. I will one day die old and alone, probably with the name “Springleaf” carved into my childhood sled.

So far. By Ep 7 Great cast have no idea why they signed up, just drivel. Great potential but just comedians ham acting.

This was a 5 until they did a bit where James kept vomiting into the mic.

Springleaf is an unusual premise that manages to be silly without being sophomoric. I can’t imagine another podcast that could put together such a talented group of actors. I look forward to each episode.

This is very silly and the fun they had making it really comes across as you listen and makes it even funnier. Good fun podcast with plenty to listen out for. Love the ‘real not real’ take on the story, some reviews say it’s hard to follow but if you can tie shoelaces you’re golden.

Love the different cameos, Kemah Bob is a delight and the silly 2d stories and cartoon dialogue are wonderful.

This podcast is so unwaveringly silly, it is delightful. The teleplay that unfolds over audio is an absurdist dream. Serpico the merdog is the true star of the show. 👍🏼 Imaginative, enjoyable, and laugh out loud funny.

Hilarious and so nice to have something totally different from my regular podcasts!
hollyjx via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 12/14/23
For such a fun, ridiculous podcast the plotlines and jokes are surprisingly well thought out. James Acaster is in top form, laying framework that makes you giggle and then throwing in the call backs that leave you belly laughing. It’s just incredibly enjoyable storytelling and reminds me of the...Read full review »

Love this podcast! It has everything. True crime, the rise and falls of a comedy career, marriage drama, and great comedy. Enjoyed every episode so far.

Look forward to each instalment of the Springleaf story, so glad his universe got to extend outside Repertoire. A scripted audio drama, so maybe not everyone’s cup of podcast tea. Personally as the episodes have gone on it has, so far, felt less and less like a script read and more of a cohesive...Read full review »

Fantastic podcast, and if you’re a fan of James’s standup you’ll love how they turn the Springleaf character into a full narrative. He’s amazing and what a cast!

Like all the other comments I’m a big fan of James and most of the cast. But this is weak. The acting is poor, perhaps deliberately? Regardless it just sounds like an unprepared table read. I couldn’t get through two episodes and didn’t laugh once.

Absolutely loving this podcast - I was listening to it while walking in the park, picking up some shopping and having a coffee. It’s genuinely smart, with layered jokes, references, and callbacks. It’s also well crafted and original. But what makes it a great listen is that it’s just silly and fun. You can tell the people involved are enjoying themselves and it’s nice to just have a laugh with them.
