“Sharing some feedback for Alex and the team in the hope and intention that this can be useful for future episodes. I love the concept and idea here - it’s so important to talk more about mental health and so I aplaude what you are doing. I just listened to the episode on grief as I have experienced two bereavements. I know this is a topic super close to Alex’s heart, and I am really sorry for his loss, and he has some valuable contributions to make but I think the episode would have been much improved if he also gave his guest (who he has positioned as the expert) more time to speak. In particular the introduction was very long and she didn’t get a chance to lay out her work or expertise in full. His questions were very long winded at times and then he kept interrupting her/talking over her. I would guess that in the share of voice for the conversation Alex takes more than 50% of the air time which is strange for an interview format. It would have been really nice to hear more from her and hear her draw out lessons and tips from her work that can be valuable to multiple people listening but it felt like she didn’t get enough opportunity. In other podcasts/tv shows that I like the interviewer makes much more space for the guest which it think would be useful for Alex to work on.
To other listeners - no idea if this is what other episodes are like as I only listened to this one, so don’t want to put you off the whole podcast series! There are other podcasts on grief which might be more accessible listening.”
