Shame they put their old content behind a pay wall

These guys seem to be more interested in giggling at each other’s snark than creating informative tech journalism.

Many useful insights but to get them you have to tolerate a very narrow view of the world. There is a predominantly worshipful attitude towards any tech lead. Gigantic issues are overlooked. The darker basis for ai progress is ignored (digital intrusion and cultural theft). The hosts are more...Read full review »

Truly one of the most entertaining podcasts, whether or not you’re a tech nerd. The banter is fun, the opposing views add depth and keep things from being one-sided. App reviews have been incredibly helpful in discovering new tools I need but didn’t find on my own or was too overwhelmed to search...Read full review »

Content is timely and interesting. One of the things that bothers me is that the two generally favor a top-down approach to the internet. They get dangerously close to infringing on First Amendment rights when they criticize things like AI slop and conspiracy theories, which is, ironically, a...Read full review »

AI, AI, AI, bla bla bla. How about "lab leak", "Peter Daszak", "NIH" ..? Peter Daszak is by far the bigger risk to the future than "AI". I know everyone loves to push the US stock market but theres more urgent matters.Read full review »

(Last updated Oct 4 2024) The parable about the coffee shop was an awful way of saying you’re locking older episodes behind the subscription paywalls and eventually removing them from Apple Podcasts. It’s a shame, I really liked this podcast. I’m really disappointed, oh well.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for a long time and as a very non-tech / non-internet person I love learning about the world through the hosts’ perspectives. Sadly the last episode I listened to ended with an ad from the Heritage Foundation. It was deeply distasteful. Probably an NYTimes...Read full review »

I’ve listened to many technology podcasts, and I believe Hard Fork is one of the best, combining informative content with fun in an exceptionally entertaining way.

Love the content, but the cringy wacky voices make me want to turn away. Just talk normal guys, your audience isn’t composed of elementary school children.

If you’re going to complain and put down the developers who work hard and are excited for an event that happens one time a year, you should rethink your life choices. Why are you allowed to go and enjoy a music concert but we’re not allowed to go and enjoy a Developer conference. No chapters

One of the funniest and accurate podcast Ive ever listened to. Great work at building strong analysis and perspectives with a smile.

This pod is good, but… I think it’s clever and interesting, and also entertaining. My only critique is that the two hosts, and one in particular are very strongly biased in their political views, and their views of the world. But they don’t seem to realize it or have any self-awareness of their...Read full review »

9/6/24 (Review #3) I’m still loving Hard Fork, and today's episode on cell phone ban solutions couldn’t have been more timely! We just hosted our teenage nephew, and his phone was glued to his hand the entire weekend. At one point, we even had to text him to announce dinner because he didn’t...Read full review »

Great chemistry. Informative content. The incessant use of filler “sort of” and “kind of” is distracting, annoying, and takes away from the intellectual merit of the conversation. Despite, it’s one of my favorite podcasts…sort of.

I am a black female veteran researcher in the mental health space. I’m applying to grad school this year for my doctorate in psychology. I’m finally at the breaking point where I’m unsubscribing from this show. Kevin is a great reporter and I’m sad to not get his takes anymore. But Casey has such little journalistic integrity, and I feel like a crazy person that others don’t immediately point it out. For example, on the latest...Read full review »

The hosts of this podcast seem to be obsessed with twitter. It is an inexhaustible topic of rant-like conversations for them. It starts to feel like the other side of the same coin as the conservatives obsession with social media platforms supposedly being biased against them.

It’s super funny when the one guy repeatedly references the song “Remedy” by Jason Mraz. A song everyone knows and thinks about all the time.

Even skipping the first two minutes of this podcast automatically to try and avoid the banter, I still can’t deal with the deluge of strong opinions and pointed comments from the hosts. The guy with the higher pitched voice especially is extreeeeeemely irritating

Casey has a lot of opinions that are not backed by research and data. When he speaks about things I know about, it’s clear to me he hasn’t done enough research ahead of the show. It’s one thing to make conversation or play devil’s advocate. But this is a lack of prep.

I enjoyed the show for most of the content provided. Some great guests and subjects to cover. I know the industry is heavily politicized like anything today but the slant started taking a more front a center part of the show.

Love the chemistry and intelligence of this dynamic duo. Casey was insufferable and very very clearly biased in favour of his own group at the clear detriment of another minority in the most recent episode. Just very disappointing. The selfish, critical, and unintelligent attitude doesn’t look good on anyone, Casey very much included.

It’s degenerated to just another AI hype pod. It was a great podcast to get the pulse on leading tech generally, but this podcast interpreted leading tech to just mean AI now so it’s really boring.
