A Shivery Delight!
Very entertaining show. It's nicely varied (poetry, fiction, non-fiction) so there is something for everyone. So far, all offerings have been been well within the genre. What makes me think that this will become one of my most favourite podcasts is that all of the offerings have been innovative--surprising even, and genuinely creepy. I gave it a try based on their close relationship with the excellent Starship Sofa, and have been rewarded beyond my hopes & expectations. What I like best about Tales to Terrify is that all but one of the stories has avoided the boring old standbys of would-be horror--no effete vampires, no unbelievble knife wielding FreddyJasonMichael clones. These have been grown up tales, respectful of reader/listeners' intelligence, narrated by well selected readers who clearly have a feel not only for the plot, but the mood as well. Larry Santoro is more than a mere announcer; rather he is a true host, drawing listeners in and setting the tone even before the presentation begins, and often ends with a subtle tribute to great radio shows of the past. The show is well conceived and well executed. A+/5 StarsRead full review »

The stories are nice, but I hate the format. If you want lots of audio magazine talky time, put it at the end like the Dunesteef, so if I want to I can skip it more easily. Or make it more awesome so I want to listen.
