Love this show. Steven and Tim have opened my eyes to artists I thought I wouldn’t like. I’m such a massive Prog Rock fan now. And Donna Summer’s album ‘Four Seasons of Love’ is my favourite find this year. Keep it up guys 👍

Tremendous in scope of music discussed, great fun, and real enthusiasm and love for albums shows through. More please! But can you please please sort the audio levels! Can hardly hear a thing

While sometimes I’m screaming at my phone telling these two sobs to shut up, for the most part I’m nodding to my head to their brilliance.

Hello, I don’t know if the truth is and you reacted to these albums that I’m going to tell you about, but I’m going to tell you. Please can you make an episode reacting to a Radiohead album called the bends or another album reacting to ok computer or In rainbows please thank you for listening to...Read full review »

I’ve been searching for a hardcore (the intensity and not the genre) record analysis and review show for m quite a while. Most have hosts that are happy to bore you with details of their week, lunch, etc for 20 minutes before actually reaching the stated topic and then endure more of the same...Read full review »

Steven wilson is a qcontemporary musical genius imho. And his knowledge is astounding. Enjoy.

I loved the podcast for its first couple of seasons. But now? The quality has decreased. There is less audio quality, and the show is taking waaaay to many episodes to get through the designated year, not to mention now talking about “cannon” albums that we all know about. Wasn’t the whole point...Read full review »

Just found the pod, picked a year of interest 1985… you had me when you mentioned you never knowingly had an Eagles album… same here. Enjoy the banter.. for those albums many listeners may know nothing about perhaps a snippet of your favourite track. My preference is less talk about Prince.. have...Read full review »

Please don’t include people’s opinions. I’m listening to you because of your opinion. Is I want people’s opinion, that’s what the comment section is for.

I love this show and as soon as I see a new episode is up I check it out immediately. Congratulations on the upgrade to ads and what appears to be a new place to record. The thing I do not like is that the sound of the podcast has changed. There is now a lower mid boost and Steven and Tim‘s...Read full review »

Never got on with Van Morrison’s music - it just never clicked with me. Until I listened to Common One recommended on the latest episode of TAY. It’s brilliant. So thank you!

Steven, you missed a gem. Kansas is a band.. that you must not overlook. This is American Prog at its finest.. Listening to these guys reviewing my favorite albums of the 70s, 80s and 90s, I’m apt to forget that Steven Wilson is an amazing artist in his own right (Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, solo). I started listening about 2 years ago because I’m a huge fan of Steven Wilson. But his lame dismissal of a Roger Waters album a fee eps ago solidified a growing feeling that his snarky takes are actually harming my opinion of him as an artist. So I’ve stopped listening.

I am really enjoying hearing about albums that are new to me thanks to the detailed musical knowledge of Steven & Tim. Schoolboy errors & drinking game mentions are fun too! Just received my vinyl copies of Sunset Wading, Immunity, & One World - all amazing records - thanks!

About the latest installment of The Album Years (1968) one artist that springs to mind immediately is The Tea Party from Canada. Jeff Martin’s voice is very similar to Jim Morrison’s, although musically they are closer to Led Zeppelin.

One of the best podcasts around. Quality discussions from some brilliant musicians/artists and great discoveries are to be made with every episode.

Warped opinionated ramblings of 50 something musos. Utterly fascinating and informative. Opened my eyes to w while other realm of music I had otherwise missed - some great, some dreadful! Thank you!!!

Even though I am already a massive fan of Bowness and Wilson, the The Album Years podcast also serves as a brilliant walkthrough of so many musical genres. It’s fun, it’s educational, it’s provocative - it’s basically as top-shelf as the two gentlemen are themselves!

I often find myself nodding or replying out loud when I listen to this podcast. I think Steven and Tim are fun to listen to even when they go deep into albums/artists I’ve never heard of, but that’s great because when the podcast is over I know what to play next.

I have been a fan of Steven Wilson’s music for awhile. Picked up on this pod a couple of years ago and haven’t regretted it. Steven and Tim are fantastic. I've recently binged on all the Vinyl Years episodes and have really enjoyed the podcasts, it's filling some type of void, I'm not sure what...however, I have one slight disagreement - I think a fresh new commentary on albums that are in the "I can't listen to it anymore"...Read full review »

If I had one gripe, and I know Steven and Tim are speaking from their specific points of view, so this is just mine; I wish they would mention more of the ‘80s hair bands. I can speculate as to why they don’t bring up some of my favorite bands from this genre. Lots of flashy, showy, nauseatingly...Read full review »

I am not a music nerd. I am however a musician and have been a singer songwriter, and I don’t understand loads of musical terms. Two old blokes talking bilge. Marvellous. Always loved the boy Wilson. As for Tim, us Latchford boys always stick together. And like you, we all lived in Yanks. But come on, admit it, Moving Pictures is the best album of all time…..

It’s 2 blokes, in the industry for the best part of 40 years talking about the albums they are familiar from the years 1967 to 2000 with in a single episode.
