Horrible bunch of amateurs
It's hard to believe that this program could get worse, but it has. Aside from the usual bunch of podcasts screwed up because they've been sampled at the wrong speed, in recent weeks there have been a batch of podcasts which treat you to 6 minutes of program, then abruptly start over again from the beginning (including the opening ads). I guess whoever does the podcasts has a nice little nap on some mornings. You would think with the 1.1 BILLION dollars the Canadian public pours into CBC, they'd be able to publish a podcast with the efficiency of a basement podcaster. Indeed, I listen to at least a dozen podcasts each day--some done from basements--and podcasts of The Current are by far the sloppiest. Each podcast is preceded by a self-congratulatory promo telling you how awesome the CBC is and how you ought to seek out all their other great podcasts. These promos are particularly ironic when they are followed by "programming" which cannot be listened to because it's been sampled at the wrong speed. You almost have to laugh. There is also the question of why listeners--who have apparently been able to find one CBC podcast--might need assistance to find others. And the more CBC podcasts you listen to, the more identical promos you will be compelled to endure… each telling you exactly the same information on how to find the podcast you're already listening to.Read full review »

More reviews of The Current
The Current is a fine example of current affairs programming and insight. While television is to reporting what twitter is to communication, radio allows the interviewer & guest to have a reasonable conversation.

Not all topics may appeal to everyone, but there's a good variety of interviews split into individual podcasts so you can pick and choose what you want to listen to. The interviews are always awesome.Read full review »
