Super interesting case is not known of. So sad and frustrating that this guy has been free all these years. I can only hope that some of the leads end up pointing at the right guy. He caused so much pain and fear

Until listening to this podcast I’d never even heard of the “Doodler.” This podcast shed light on the culprit’s horrific crimes both by outlining relevant details and, when possible, giving listeners a deeply personal look at his victims, defining them for who they were, not by what he did to...Read full review »

Fagan has the cred, and sometimes cynicism and salt, that only comes from decades on the streets of SF writing about the issues that matter. This podcast was both interesting and entertaining, especially for this native son of SF. I was left wanting more and feeling like we had to all pitch in to...Read full review »

I hate the “woke” part of this podcast. I’m done!

I think it’s pretty crazy to say how important it is for stories like these to be told, and how they’ve been ignored, and then put all episodes save one behind a paywall. It really makes me think that the most important thing ISN’T the story and solving this case.

Read wiki instead you can get more information on the suspects. This was a waste it gave no information on suspects it’s just a biography of each suspect . You can learn more on wiki

I got 5 episodes in and it hasn't been about the killer or catching them, or even tracking them. It's been a biography of people on the peripheral of the case ( victims, cops, etc) Not a true crime podcast in my opinion.Read full review »

Is this a joke? One episode for free and the rest for subscription only? To a podcast channel that has content the size of a flash drive from 10 years ago? Wow. You guys really know how to kill what sounds like a great podcast. Er, good luck. Tell us how it goes while you howl at the moon with...Read full review »

I listen to a lot of podcasts and a lot of them are true crime. Most of them don’t have a resolution. I don’t love listening to unsolved cases, but this one made me happy to know a bit more history. It also made me cry in the last three minutes of the last episode. That’s rare.
Bridgeybear via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/15/22
Why were most of the episodes removed forcing people to do a paid subscription if they want to listen past episode one?!!

Highly recommend this podcast! This crazy true crime story should be made into a Netflix series one day. San Francisco Chronicle journalist Kevin Fagan is the first person to delve into this under told case in detail. The only other information you will usually find on the Doodler (great name for...Read full review »

Was given the heads up about this podcast from a coworker. Amazing what was going on in San Francisco in the 1970s. RIP uncle Earl.

Enjoyed the Podcast but felt there were an overwhelmingly amount of ads and breaks. I completely understand a podcast needs to be sponsored and would not begrudge the content maker of an income but the ads on this podcast were too long and too many and detracted from the storyline .

To say that a person doesn’t create their life is foolish & to compare a killing as more or less dramatic No way can these out do children’s destruction, children who have not created a life by their choices

Ridiculous. Horrible take on true crime and so disappointing to have what could be a powerful story...Read full review »

two commercial breaks in a podcast under 30 minutes is just rage inducing. Look at Casefile, if you want to have more than ONE, you need to put at the beginning or end. And the episodes can be longer. It is just constant interruption. Stop/Start/Stop/Start.

Kudos to the host for picking up a cold case that nobody else seemed to care about. The episodes are brief and packed with information and the host provides access to survivors and other witnesses to the original events. He contextualizes the historical and political issues of the era including...Read full review »

I love this case and the victims’ stories. The problem is the host. He sounds goofy and out of touch so his personality doesn’t translate very well. Moreover, his constant reminiscing about being a reporter ‘back in the day’ is weirdly repetitive and dislodges the narration from the case. Bad...Read full review »

This is one of the most interesting and hope inspiring true crime podcasts I’ve heard. I couldn’t wait to get to the last few episodes. Brilliantly written with clearly set out paths for the listener to follow, it really does paint a clear picture of what life must have been like in the gay...Read full review »

The research and details available are commendable considering the time of Covid-19 and the amount of time that has elapsed. I hope this podcast will bring justice for so many who were marginalised, both by society’s hate and then through the appalling violence done to them and the severe trauma...Read full review »

Given how little actual content there is here—once you take out repetition & advertisements—this should have had 3 fewer episodes. The story itself, while memorable, is not memorably told.

Understand that in a decades-old murders one has to start somewhere, but there seems nothing substantive. Sadly I tried to finish it but, it just wasn’t good. I know people put a lot of time in this, but the ton of this from the LGBTQ+ stand point seems like something that would be relevant back in 2001 not 2021… and I had hoping it was leading to something, but really all it is is a show about “huh,...Read full review »

Given the subject matter, this story really needed a queer Black host. The host clearly means well and cares about justice for the victims, but the storytelling falls flat because he just doesn’t have the necessary perspective to handle the issues of race and sexuality involved here in a way that...Read full review »

Host’s delivery feels too...jaunty for a show about a serial killer. Yikes, this is a miss. The host constantly and insufferably centers himself in the story and offers precious little actual content on a grim story that could have done so much more to shine a light on a little-known serial killer who targeted a marginalized community. It’s so, so bad.

A compelling case but this podcast is 50% ads, each episode is only 20 minutes and covers very little new or exciting information.
