“I listen to quite a few food-centric podcasts, but this is the only one I consistently enjoy and learn from. Helen Rosner is one of the hosts and also one of my internet crushes/heroes, and she's super super smart and actually engages with the guests on the show rather than asking all the predictable old BS interview questions (even the kinda lame Lightning Round can lead to surprising revelations and doesn’t seem to just be empty filler). Plus they get great, interesting guests. Two of my favorites this season were Jen Agg and Garrett Oliver. I also love when they can pull away a little bit from the insular/privileged world of NYC/major urban center foodies and get at more universal topics around food and dining both via the guests they bring on the show and the discussions they bring to the table. The tone and flow of the conversational segments between Helen and co-host Greg Morabito at the top of the episodes are sometimes a little forced—it reminds me that these two are probably, in their heart of hearts, more suited to writing than to broadcast media—but the things they are talking about are still really fascinating and I still <3 Helen.
