“I'm hesitant to even give the Economist two stars. The content of their podcasts is excellent. But the sound quality, the audio, is abominable. It's like they don't even try. Can't they hire an audio technician? No other podcast I've listened to has as many audio problems. The typical problem is volume levels, especially in interviews. Most of the interview podcasts are recorded telephone calls, in which the Economist reporters sound okay, but the other party is way, way, way too hard to make out or hear. Sometimes I give up trying to listen because I have the volume up all the way on my iPod and still can't hear the interviewee. Other times I frustratedly have to jack up the volume after the reporter asks a question, then quickly turn it back down again before the interview subject finishes. No other podcasts on iTunes have these problems. Radio stations get sound right. Television stations get sound right. What's wrong with the Economist? They should suspend further podcasts until they've gotten their act together. Their credibility is damaged.”Read full review »
