I’m so glad Hannah Jewell popped into the feed on Juneteenth to alert us to this podcast that totally flew under my radar. How did that happen?

The title of this review says it all, this podcast is an absolute masterclass in storytelling. The story was fascinating, the research impressive, the pacing was perfect, and the narrator was incredibly engaging. She did a wonderful job of reminding the audience what was going on or who was who...Read full review »

In-depth research went into this podcast. Fascinating narrative concerning what Americans consider a minor event in history

It’s compelling and engrossing. Martine Powers moves from conversational to hard journalism reporting and back, in such an incredibly engaging manner. Between she, her partner Ted, her mother Francine, & her dad scraping the jar, the uncovering of evidence is all-consuming. A period of...Read full review »

What can I say, Martine is a great journalist, I enjoy following this path with her and learning about places not often considered. It could be improved in terms of audio production (see TAL or Serial season 1), but that is really a matter of taste.

Terrific narrative podcast. Made me think about this seemingly minor conflict from the late Cold War in an entirely new light.

I avoided listening to this podcast for a while because I thought it would be a depressing retelling of America messing about unnecessarily in its near-abroad — and it is! But it is also a heartfelt portrait of the events of a horrifying day as a revolution turned upon itself, about the people —...Read full review »

I am very impressed with this podcast!!! Just finished the 6th episode and have so many questions???. I was 13 years old when this conflict occurred and remembered it vaguely. In 2015, my family and I took a cruise that stopped in Grenada and remembered that we went to the fort where everything...Read full review »

This is a great show, combining solid research and a personal angle. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about a topic I’d never heard of before. Would love to have a follow-up about Patrice Lumumba / other mysteriously assassinated populist leaders.

I’ve been to Grenada as a tourist and read about Urgent Fury as a student. This podcast is a mixture of true crime, espionage, and Cold War politics all in one. I want more like it!

Great mix of cold case/true crime and history about a part of the world Americans rarely learn about. Very much enjoyed this!

The story is told in such a gripping manner, I learned a lot about a story I didn’t even know I was missing. The investigations are fascinating and must have been so time consuming. It’s a master piece.

If the first grave excavation was 1995, years before Mr. Bailey died, why didn’t he show them the body bags gravesite near the wall?

I am obsessed with this podcast — the story, the setting, the history, the characters. It taught me so much I didn’t know about the revolution in Grenada and how it got caught in the Cold War. The storytelling is incredible but you’ll also come away with an important history lesson.
MoriahDB via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/01/23
I just finished Ep. 6 and the narrative around where Mr. Bishop's body ended up has become a strong and bright thread weaving through so many different aspects of the events discussed. From the history of the revolution, to the American invasion, to the recollections of Grenadians and members...Read full review »

This young Lady has done a great job on this story. She had shown throughout how much ground work she had done. My cousin who was part of the Jamaican force that was there has many regrets of being sent. I also married into the family of one of the convicted 17. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

An incredible story, masterfully told. You’ll learn a lot about this forgotten chapter of Cold War history as the reporters get closer and closer to unlocking the secrets of what really happened in Grenada 40 years ago.

As a person with roots in the Grenada, this has been such an eye-opening experience. My father moved from Grenada right before the revolution, but had many friends who were a part of it. I can barely contain myself when one comes out. It's so well thought out and masterfully unspooled. I listen to it first on my own and then with my mom/business partner while we work. And now she's hooked, too. I love it.Read full review »

I’m loving this story so far. There’s one thing that’s been nagging at me since episode 1, though. If your mom is from Trinidad, why did she move to Grenada and not Trinidad? I know it’s not important to the Bishop story… so maybe it’s just kismet that brought her/you to Grenada!!
E.SteinyStrong via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/09/23
My colleagues worked on this and it is fantastic. It’s a fascinating story that is about so much more than one grave, one person and one country. Deeply reported, richly told, and — something that can be rare in news podcasts — there’s actual news!
