Was really interested in listening to this, but the majority of the podcast is the host talking at length in a guardian-esk monologue, rather than letting the guests tell their story. First episode is mostly this, with the host repeatedly saying they went for breakfast, before allowing the guest...Read full review »

Mocks the people he is talking about. Thinks he knows it all and is a social commentator. Not a LAD just a left wing Journo getting his pod cast up the ranks. DONT LISTEN.

Apologies but this is only a review of the first episode. Please don’t waste your time on this. It’s slow and repetitive. Not worth wasting time listening to. I think the sub text is a sad West Ham fan because his club moved to a poor stadium.

I don’t often take the time to write a podcast review, but after episode 1 I felt I needed to! It’s outstanding and I’m hooked already, top work from everyone involved!

Honestly a really really good take on hooliganism and definitely could feel how hard it was for the host to remain unbiased. It definitely showed me a different side of things and prompted a deep conversation with my dad and his days in the 80s almost falling into hooliganism. The only reason...Read full review »

As an Australian and huge sports fan have always been fascinated by the English football hooliganism, because it seemed from afar as what it was to be the ‘next level’ fan, so started listening to understand how people went from just being a fan to fighting opposition fans but this is so much...Read full review »

I was hooked after the first episode. Great storytelling, insightful perspectives, with angles on so many different football and non-football topics. My Tuesday morning commute wont quite be the same. Great work by the whole team involved

Brilliantly researched and written. Should never expect anything less from Sam.

I’m usually a fan of the light and funnier football ramble from Stake. However this is a very interesting more serious take on football history that’s very enjoyable

Just superb. The series ebbed and flowed and evolved from episode to episode. Delves into questions of influence, alienation, toxic masculinity, glorification, community and extremism all punctuated by a love for the most important of the least important things in life.

I love everything about this podcast even though I don’t love football - this is a great listen highly recommend

As a female football fan of the men’s game (which can be tough) I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of class, masculinity and politics through the football lens. You can research and read a lot of theory but to have an accessible podcast series by a younger, dynamic and culturally...Read full review »

The right blend of nostalgia and deeper probing of a subject matter that's all too easily dismissed without further analysis. Would love more of this!Read full review »

Gets closer to the essence of what’s great and what’s disturbing about football culture than most. Great listen.

The original idea of this podcast was good, but it went too political / woke Episode 3 onwards all have been a painful listen Too much unnecessary swearing from podcaster Felt like it turned into a vehicle for the podcaster to highlight his own political feelings as opposed to what it...Read full review »

The general premise of focusing a story about the culture of football violence is a good idea. Sadly there isn’t a story, or any attempt to marry the views of the people who see it as a calling or a way of life to the major issues it causes themselves, society, victims of this kind of violent...Read full review »

Good germ of an idea dragged on and on and on to string out a couple more episodes.

Episode 2… where the ex-husband said Bill Gates back in caveman days would get his head caved in, wouldn’t be allowed in some pub in Notts, and the writer/narrator/wannabe hooligan laughed… oh how he laughed. Yeah I’m good hillbilly boy. After that 1st episode waiting for the love letter to a...Read full review »

The title and imagery looked great. I thought it was going to take us inside the primal thrill of football violence. Instead it’s a load of disjointed low energy narration about class and politics and I kept asking myself when is this going to get going? It never seemed to actually get onto the...Read full review »

Really enjoying this podcast so far. II have always been a football fan but always ignored this side of it, really interesting to hear this side, you can really see the massive effort ,time and research that everyone involved has put into this podcast.

Is it just me but there’s no sound on any of the available episodes? When I played ep1 via Football ramble it’s all ok.

This is a fantastic series. Such poignant timing amid global and regional concerns surrounding immigration and the mentality that another group is always looking to replace them. Enjoying it so far. Guys a good writer and works been put in to produce this but wish the narrator spoke in his normal voice and not the ‘chill af’ stylised way of talking which is fashionable with bank adverts

Enjoyed but does sadly give off a “Poverty Safari” vibe. Well intentioned no doubt but lacked a level of authenticity.

A thoughtful, well put together and thorough examination of hooliganism from a different angle that avoids traditional tabloid sensationalism. Fantastic storytelling, looking forward to the rest of the series!
