Kind of like a piazza
For me, the Sacred podcast represents a sanctuary, an antidote to the polarising hype so prevalent out there. Listening to the podcast is a bit like arriving at a piazza, where diverse people are rubbing shoulders with each other, and talking freely about what matters most to them (except that on the podcast, the conversations happen one at a time). This is how it is: when guests affirm my beliefs or – even better – when they articulate values that I share but haven't quite managed to put into words, I come away feeling deeply heartened. Yet when guests express perspectives that are alien to me, I don't feel DISheartened. I keep listening, partly out of curiosity, but mostly because of the TONE of the conversations. Elizabeth engages with her guests with a rare civility and warmth. While her posture is open, it's not detached. In other words, she's not a fence-sitter, but rather, she approaches the fence for a neighbourly chat – so that by the end of each episode, I'm left with the sense that I've encountered the real person behind the public platform. It's sometimes uncomfortable, but I'm always richer for it. Blessed are the peacemakers!Read full review »

However I...Read full review »

I love it! It is especially for people who are interested in a great conversation about faith and reality. How can you think when you think there is more. Lots of the episodes really touched me on an intellectual and emotional way! LOVE IT!

This podcast was recommended to me by a friend from uni and came at just the right time. I’d forgotten what I cared about and was apathetic towards my doctorate thesis. Elizabeth, thank you for these conversations which challenge and stimulate, that encourage an expansion of perspective and...Read full review »
