Listened to series 1 the bookshop murder and series 2 the informant. Well put together podcast. I hope the family of Maria can get some answers. I liked especially hearing from the retired cop who never forgot the case

Rach and the team should be so proud of both these fascinating and expertly researched and narrated cases. Thank you Trace.

This series, Trace, was a fascinating story of such a sad and pointless Australian murder in the 1980’s. The host has poured her heart and soul into the investigation of this crime, long after Police had stopped. A well produced podcast that will grab the attention of any true crime listener.

I’ve just finished listening to Season 2 and am now looking forward to listening to season 1. Balanced, well-told and, most important for me, no theatricals that can creep into true crime podcasts occasionally. Brava!

Brilliant story telling but incredible investigation. Pity this reporter is not a police investigator, much luck & love getting the answers that are so long overdue.

The older I get in my life and the more news is freely accessible and people are publicising truthful factual material in great content in context as this podcast. It has come to my attention the crimes of the Catholic Church in the form of paedophila & murder is a total scandal and insult...Read full review »

One of the best produced podcasts I’ve heard in a long time. Thanks for highlighting the injustices of the unsolved murder of Maria James. I hadn’t heard about this case beforehand I’m such detail and I’m glad it has brought some attention to it again. Hoping the James brothers get the answers...Read full review »

‘Trace’ was one of the first podcasts I ever listened to and it’s still one of the best I have ever listened to! I hope everyone involved is able to find the answers they need soon and congratulations on such significant progress.

I hope when the coroner hands down her findings mark and Adam have the answer to this long standing emtional roller coaster. Your mother would be so proud of you both for never giving up for her ❤️

I walked into my local book shop chasing a true crime read, the lady behind the counter handed me a copy of Trace and promised, ‘I wouldn’t put it down’. I read it cover to cover in less than a day. So I’ve unsurprisingly ended up here, eager to digest this podcast as I did the book, I can only...Read full review »

Season 1 is best true crime podcast there is. Thank you, Rachael. You’ve done a super job with this one. Can’t wait to see what the Coroner will find.

Thank you Rachel for your hard work and detailed details surrounding this case. My sympathies go out to The James brothers for sharing the tradegy of losing your beautiful mother Maria. Thank you Rachael for pulling together this sincere and gripping podcast, and reigniting the investigation into Maria James’ murder. My heart goes out to the James brothers.

May I suggest you let professional people like the police investigate and solve crimes, you failed the first test by becoming emotionally involved and not understanding the difficulties associated with solving a crime of this nature. Stop wasting tax payers money.

Whole pod has been exceptional. Rachael is sympathetic & balanced which makes for great listening.

The Maria James series is a thoughtful and in-depth investigation which seeks to bring justice for Maria James and her sons. I do hope that the findings of the Coronial Inquest help to bring this matter to a close. If you like a deep dive investigative podcast then I highly recommend putting...Read full review »

From the first episode I was gripped. It’s incredibly compelling- the mishandling by police, the revelations about the church protecting abusive priests. But the most moving aspect is to hear the voices of Mark and Adam James, desperately trying to find justice for their mother.
BlossomDeary via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 11/09/21
Rachel, you’ve really done so much to bring attention to Maria’s tragic story. It’s obvious just how invested you are in finding the truth and very heartening to hear the bond you’ve formed with Mark and Adam over time. I really have every hope this case will be solved. Mark and Adam are clearly...Read full review »

Rachel you’re a smug grub. There are mistakes in every single investigation. This is a historical investigation that you are judging off today’s standards. Turn the camera on journalism and review practices… see how you go. Don’t ever wonder why only retired police will talk to you. You wouldn’t...Read full review »

Thank you to everyone who works on this podcast. Outstanding. How on earth the coroner, or anyone, could put any stock in the ridiculous hypotheses of Graham Ashworth is beyond me. Fantastic investigative journalism. Thank goodness for competent people who don’t give up on the victims and the victims families whether the suspect is dead or not. It will hopefully lead to closure for the people who matter. Hail to forensic science!

I have absolutely loved this podcast. The content is amazing, the interviews are close to source and impressive but most importantly is the style of the presenters who make this fairly simple, highly educational and informative for people who may not be intimate with these incidences. Well done….

There is a failure to mention that the Catholic Church, courts and police had financial agreements that led to massive cover ups of abuse in Australia.
