Families in the denial phase
It is an interesting podcast. However, it should be called “things to avoid if you have mental health issues”. It is not really about a “cult”, it is about the obsession of Western middle class youngish people with alternative therapies, Eastern meditation, etc. I understand from this that meditation centres should have a more stringent safeguarding training. However, the main issue with these people was they already had poor mental health and their families were oblivious. It is quite common, and also from people I know a mental health crises can suddenly erupt, and friends and family were totally taken by surprise. What really stands out is that the families are still in the denial phase. Specially the one with the twins, even with hindsight they are still adamant there was nothing wrong with the sisters before. It would be interesting to listen to a podcast about the supposed “cult”. So far I haven’t heard anything in this podcast that delves into it. In the Christian tradition silent retreats are a thing and even with young people, and nobody talks about spiralling mental health… so, it would be interesting to hear a podcast with proper, in depth research.

It comes across that the organisation is not...Read full review »

I think it’s fantastic that someone is finally bringing light to the fact that these types of intensive holistic practices can cause people to have psychological breaks. When dealing with trauma, especially C-PTSD which I believe is hugely under diagnosed in our society, it’s of utmost importance...Read full review »
