I so look forward to each episode of Americast. I love your perspective and humor. You help us Americans not to take ourselves so seriously while delivering accurate reporting. Please don't stop after the election!Read full review »

I’ve listened to Americast from the beginning and mostly enjoyed it. It does strike me that Justin Webb is a Trump apologist - once again criticising VP Harris for a lack of policy whilst at the same time allowing Trump off without saying anything meaningful in this area (with the exception of...Read full review »

Shockingly ill-informed male host

The episode Americanswers in Philadelphia was an absolute shocker! What on earth are you doing presenting such jaw-droppingly bad election coverage two days out? Make way for people who have serious political expertise and insight.

*Makes podcast about America* *Insults Americans, offers biased takes, does not fact check* An insult to the BBC.

I sort of drifted away from this podcast when things changed with the presenters. I have returned and I am glad I came back. It’s not shouty and gobby compared to some of the alternatives. It seems the egos are not so huge over here. I still listen to the others out there - though now I find...Read full review »

Why is Americast not reporting more on Trump pre-emptive undermining of the integrity of the election? Surely it is the first duty of an org like the BBC to hold a leader to account for untruths on this scale. Instead we just get Justin limply criticising Kamala’s vibe… Marianna is excellent and...Read full review »

I very rarely write reviews, and I apologize that this one will be a little harsh. I lived in the US for over a decade, teaching politics in universities, before returning to the UK where I teach the politics A-level. So politics podcast and my bread and butter. So, checking into this podcast to see if it’s returned to form. Such a shame but it’s much like the rest of the BBC output of late which has the courage of Jeff Bezos in its journalistic integrity. Used to be an essential listen. I don’t expect better from Justin Webb but Sarah Smith? What...Read full review »

Justin Webb being a bit heavy-handed 8-days from election day that he thinks Trump is cruising to victory. With polling so narrow and within margin of error, not sure what he’s basing this on other than a vibe he’s picking up from where he is (South London).
WyzacHidmond via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/28/24
Too much bias towards Trump without giving enough seriousness to his potential impact on USA and world. I listen widely but I can’t help feeling you are glossing over the awfulness of Trump . I will be unfollowing because it feels superficial unfortunately.

Brilliant and informative podcast - so pleased they’re doing daily ones in the build up to the election. Keep it up team!

It is incredibly biased in its coverage and the male host is downright misogynistic in some of his takes. Fawning over Donald Trump at every turn and normalizing his bizarre behavior yet requiring the highest standards of Kamala Harris is extremely off putting to listen to. Might as well be a Fox...Read full review »

Justin Webb ruined a perfectly lovely podcast. I assume he’s trying to play the Jon Sopel role but… no.

Unsubscribing after hearing the team describe the Republican strategy to motivate anti-trans voters to the ballot box as ‘interesting’. Drink a shot every time Marianna says “yeah, I think it’s interesting” and down a pint every time they explain who the under cover voters are. 😂. Joking! It’s a good podcast, I’m listening every week.

Generally a good all round coverage of the issues. Struggles for identity vs TRIP and News Agents and rather than trying to compete on personality, I think they should lean into the wider BBC resources available. The undercover voters is a good idea but somehow a way of brining them to life...Read full review »

I used to be a loyal listener but lately Justin’s biases seem really to be showing. I was hoping for an outside perspective but his misogyny is really turning me off. Oh and Justin Melania is the first real feminist First Lady really??? Who do you expect to swallow that?

I’m an Englishman living in The USA and have enjoyed enough of the content in this podcast to give it a weekly listen. This was a decent show. The corporate bias is really showing though. To do entire podcast episodes on, “What’s going on with the Middle East and how is this effecting America?” Yet not once mentioning AIPAC or DMFI is negligent journalism. It’s all about the money in US politics and this show...Read full review »

For God’s sake, where did you get “Vaarntz” from? It’s “Vance”, like “ants”. No-one has ever called him Vaarntz. BTW, totally for Harris - but you can hardly be annoyed by Trump’s “Kamaaarla” if you mispronounce like this. Just sayin’

I’ve been surprised by the number of negative reviews about Americast recently. There are some grounds for criticism: more time should be given to the only American on the pod-AZ (and the AWWHQ joke has run its course). The show is nakedly anti Trump, but frankly it’s hard to see how to present...Read full review »

Trumps film and tv cameos get more coverage than his multiple indictments and convictions. And just to be clear Trump didn’t “ handle January the sixth badly “ he caused the insurrection. That said I’d describe his music selection as eclectic not inchoherent.

I can no longer listen to Justin & his subtle glorification of Trump. His disdain for Harris & any women in power is too evident. His fact checking is at level zero. Just call this an opinion show. It is not what one would expect from the BBC.
