I had no idea what was going on half the time

The season 2 recap song is one of the best parts.

The acting wasn’t too bad but the writing was atrocious. No one in this anthology seems to act like normal human beings aside from the two people performing the study. The sound effects are often really badly done foley — a syringe drawing blood should not sound like someone slurping on an empty...Read full review »

I have listened to this many times over while i create my art stuff. The sfx and voices allow me to create while being stimulated only through my ear holes. Very rich in imagination. I haven’t purchased any socks or ad stuff, because I am poor! but their ads are hilarious.

The quality seems to go down on season 3. The voice acting changes from incredible to average, and the ending was anticlimactic. I still warmly recommend seasons 1 and 2.

I could get past the continuity issue of the stories not coming from the perspective of the experiment subject (makes absolutely no sense) and I could skip over the annoying “banter” at the start and finish of each episode between the creators. But what I couldn’t get past is the random...Read full review »

This podcast is great but I was surprised that there have been parts that really make me smile. An episode with Jim and Pam and Toby! Another episode that is talking about My Favorite Murder podcast. I love these little nods.

The first season is fantastic and it sets up a really nice premise with tons of cool ties and links and it all comes together really nicely in the end, but then seasons 2 and 3 just don’t. They start relying too much on gore and horrifying imagery that they aren’t really frightening. Plus the few...Read full review »

The acting is very over the top in the few episodes I’ve listened to so far, but the stories are entertaining and really keep your attention. Lee Pace is FANTASTIC as the narrator and I’m a huge fan of Denis O’Hare, they’re both perfect. The musical bit in the second episode and the douchey...Read full review »

really don’t like the few minutes of bro chat at the start. the second and third season are good, but the first season is so poorly written it’s almost unlistenable. the concept for the show is really great but could’ve been executed much better as a whole

Whoever does the sound for this podcast doesn’t care about your ears. Level out the screaming

Had an incredibly strong start and running through the 1st season, with both excellent individual episodes and overarching meta plot that tied together excellently in the season finale. Great sense of tension and dramatic execution. 2nd season was similarly well crafted, but by the 3rd and final...Read full review »

A very good podcast, with all different types of horror. Sometimes a bit too much for me, but I like the story within a story format. I guess we would like a sequel about friar Carlyle’s business...Or maybe not 😬🤢

This is one of the BEST podcasts I’ve ever listened to. Seasons 1 & 2 were so outstanding with the heavy plot of the two companies. I will say season 3 threw me a little bit with how it started but eventually we got back to the cliffhanger ending of season two and WOW what an epic finale. I...Read full review »

After that the quality of the writing goes downhill significantly... The first season has a compelling storyline and believable dialogue. After the first season it seems like they were just producing whatever creepy pasta they could rip off and add gimicky sound effects to. What a letdown.

Welp.... just shot through Darkest Night podcast. There are some good stories for sure. But they’re hit or miss, with the stories getting more and more gore heavy as it goes. It’s an anthology horror series with an overarching plot that ties all the stories together. (Minor Spoiler Alert)...Read full review »

The show is fantastic as entertainment and also on a technical level. The use of sound and the sound design of the show is amazing.

I really like this plot device of being able to see peoples last moments alive. And I’m always up for giant scary corporation conspiracies. But what’s really selling me is the Lee Pace narration and the cameos from THE RuPaul. How you guys managed to swing that last one is beyond me.

I tried. I really tried with this one but just couldn't stand it at all! Although most episodes feature talented and well-known actors they come across as too over-arched and or outright bad which may come down to poor direction or lack of experience in voice acting but either way it is...Read full review »

I was looking for something similar to the no sleep podcast and stumbled upon this. It’s so good. Season 1 was awesome the other 2 were good, strange but good. Now off to find another show to listen to!

This had so much potential but my poor ears couldn’t stand the massive sound disparity in their use of screams and sound effects. Can’t do it anymore .....
Drewski202 via Apple Podcasts · New Zealand · 10/10/20
Season 1 was great but after that it quickly went downhill. There is a massive overuse of “bloody” sound effects that it makes the actual story uninteresting. My opinion is just listen to the first season and end it there.

Season 1 well written to the finale Season 2 seemed it was trying to hard
MrKii09 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/15/20
Great job to all involved, this is immersive and keeps you wanting more! It’s hard to come by such a lively podcast that bothers with sound effects & a varied cast! Awesome job!
Hambote via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/11/20
This podcast quickly devolved from a basic, yet decent collection of horror stories to a mess of ridiculousness. It gets so bad in the third season that it feels like the podcast had become a test to see how many ppl would keep listening if they made it terrible. Clichés and stereotypes run wild.

If you can’t handle graphic content don’t watch it easy as that don’t review bomb it. It’s meant to be crude.

Season 1 was great, and had a lot of potential going forward. Lee Pace is the bomb, and the story is pretty solid. The podcast sadly suffers a classic case of “Should have ended there”. Come season 2, the overarching plot devolved SO rapidly I’m surprised I made it to the end. Which, by the way,...Read full review »

The plot is really cool! The over arcing narrative of what is happening with the cyclops experiment is very interesting! However the individual episodes are very hit or miss. In terms of execution the binaural audio is awesome and the audio is super clean and defined. Most of the voice acting is...Read full review »

What happened?? Season 1 = 5 stars. Season 2 = 4 stars. Season 3 = 1.5 stars. I love horror podcasts, but season 3 is the dumbest thing I’ve tried to listen to in a long time. Lazy writing, overacting and serious overuse of wet slurpy sound effects/screaming (attempting cheap scares I guess?)....Read full review »

Like any anthology series, some episodes are better than others. However, the first 2 season completely captivated me. Season 3 did begin to lose me. The stories were good, however the overall story line wasn’t nearly as engaging. It’s tough to strike gold 3 times in a row. If you enjoy podcasts...Read full review »
