I’ve listened to this podcast since the beginning. So far they lost the immense talent of Micah Cohen, Nate Silver, Sarah E. Frostenson, Clare Malone, Perry Bacon Jr., and Alex Samuels. Letting Nate Silver go was perhaps their largest mistake, with him gone, is it really FiveThirtyEight? Doesn’t...Read full review »

Hey I love the podcast, but in recent weeks every episode has become extremely glitchy (at least on Apple Podcast app). Multiple times in every episode the audio jumps ahead or jumps back. Sometimes it does this multiple times in a row or completely cuts off portions of the audio in mid sentence....Read full review »

We get it. Models and projections. But call a spade a spade.

On the Union episode, 18 sept, I was struck by how little the group, Galen included, seemed to know about the issue. I am not referring to the game, where over/underestimating public opinion is common, but it seemed like nobody knew much about Union history, recent or otherwise. Galen quipped,...Read full review »

religiously listened to this podcast for years but it’s just not the same. it started losing charm after Clare was fired and now nate isn’t there?? how is it even considered 538 now? I love Galen as a host and his gerrymandering project was so amazing, but there’s only so much he can do! the team...Read full review »

This new one is very bad. Look like a Dollar General logo.

Sadly, this Podcast isn’t what it once was. Of course Nate Silver is missed, but the whole 538 crew of podcasts participants seems to be hollowed out. Instead of a group of trusted voices on political/ polls/ data science covering interesting topics, it feels more like a single late night host...Read full review »

Really interesting, but please stop saying the word ‘like’ every other word, it is getting ridiculous and makes me want to switch off. It’s incredibly annoying and unnecessary.

Nate Silver, the founder of 538, somehow got fired, and there never was a clear explanation. After listening to it for years, I feel that the podcast has suffered as a result of his absence. It was always great hearing him weigh in on the discussion. Without him, I’ve just lost interest. So I’m...Read full review »

Pod started going downhill awhile ago, despite the efforts of Galen and the rotating panelists. Now the pivot to once a week, removing Nate and adding a blowhard like G Elliot Morris as the main data person, who hasn’t even been on the pod yet but is already dumping on the “old regime” consider...Read full review »

Needs an editor; or one who doesn’t say “like” quite as often as the speakers. Am listening to the 24 August episode and it is really quite strange. “Like” appears twice in literally every sentence. Sounds like a high school corridor.

Podcast has gone through a lot of changes over the years - but Galen does an admirable job of keeping it informative and interesting. Obviously spends a lot of time researching/preparing and has great guests. Keep up the great work.

Despite the content quality, the voice of the presenter is horrible.

En av mine favoritt podcaster som baserte sine synsinger på statistiske modeller og odds, er dessverre nå i stor grad bare synsing.

Nothing against the new people, but the original crew was best. I understand that people move on, but it’s become a cull. Very curious to see what’s gonna happen now you’ve kicked out Nate.

Cap the use of the word “like” at under 10 per podcast and I would give the podcast a 5-star rating.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for years. It’s just the right blend of fun and informative. I’ve learned so much about polling. Keep up the great work!

The overuse, and often inappropriate use, of the word “salient” is exceedingly annoying.

The ostensible foundation for this pod (and the reason I subscribed) is the well-respected 538 Poll averages. However, it’s primary focus is opining about current events and, on that front, it’s commentators lack of depth and “millennial progressive” bias (not to mention the “sing song-ey” voices...Read full review »

No Labels’ primary donor is Harlan Crow. It’s not centrist, it’s moderate right. This is VERY surface level info that still fails to be shared.

I used to listen to this podcast religiously leading up to the 2020 election when Clare Malone and Perry Bacon Jr. provided really great insight, but it’s been mediocre since they left. Galen is lukewarm as a host and doesn’t come across as a particularly warm and relatable. Nate Silver used to...Read full review »

As a British listener this can be very informative. At times some of the topics are just too local for my engagement. But I would love to hear an episode where nobody uses the word “like” I would give it 3 stars but my phone won’t enable me to

Galen and FiveThirtyEight team, you consistently hit it out of the park. The 538 politics podcast is slightly liberal, but they speak upon issues with a slightly democrat position but it’s at the point where it isn’t blatantly partisan!

Going from discussions with Nate Silver to babysitting a panel of progressive nitwits. I feel for Galen.

Galen is a fantastic host, who always gets the most from guests and topics. It’s terribly sad what’s happened to 538 and this podcast. Bring back Claire, Nate and and Harry :(
Nate1792 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 07/11/23
Nate is what made 538 interesting. The guy who has taken over for Nate is a young, progressive hack. Galen seems like a nice guy, and good at what he does. Tough spot.

Used to be a great podcast with Nate Silver on election forecasts, result, polling and statistics. Since he’s gone, some random people just talking their opinions on politics. Not for me…

This is one of the best US politics podcasts. That said, by being based on data-driven insights, FiveThirtyEight has and will continue to suffer from the same problems that beset modern-day polling. The public’s resistance to pollsters’ phone calls and questionnaires means that major conclusions...Read full review »

I thought this podcast might get better without Nate Silver but ABC’s undying faith and commitment to Gaylen Druke is so incredibly off base. I think this is an omen harkening of what is to come. But foremost, ABC should not have bet so much on Gaylen Druke.

I will miss Galen, but frankly ABC has gutted the show. Clearly the show isn’t itself without the staff it has lost. One place this shows up is the new intrusion of random ads.
