This was an eye-opening and incredible story about healthcare gone wrong. I wish I found this story years ago.

Unbelievable and awesome podcast!

The first couple of episodes were pretty interesting then they kept repeating the same quotes and info over and over. Probably could have made it a 5 part series.

WOW
Just wow!! I lived in Chicago during this time. Friends now live down the street from the hospital. This podcast is so well presented!! I’m not going to lie, some episodes are infuriating. I strongly suggest you listen!!

An eye-opening series about a group of bad apples that took over a once-prominent hospital. It’s almost like what would happen if a handful of “Doctor Deaths” were on staff at a hospital. A well-produced, researched and intriguing story that hooked me immediately.

I grew up in the Edgewater/Andersonville neighborhood where Edgewater hospital was located. The history of the hospital was something that I was familiar with but didn't know all the details. The podcast is fascinating and also captivating because I know some of the people who were...Read full review »

Just finished listening to it - it brought up numerous emotions in me as a former employee! I went between heartbroken, panic-stricken(esp during the discussion about the hyperbaric chamber), and triumph! Great job, Stephani and Todd! Cannot WAIT until next Sunday!

Wow love the podcast as a wanna be urban explorer. So, as an Aon colleague, I’m quite familiar with W Clement Stone who appeared to be friends with Dr Mazel via the donation of the hypberbaric chamber. Interestingly enough Stone’s business - Combined Insurance - was just blocks away at 5000...Read full review »

I spent over a decade working with Edgewater Hospital as an outside vendor. I had front row seats to the unfortunate saga. I worked with Dr Cubria, only becoming aware of the “scam” when I saw it aired on CBS. I have really enjoyed the this highly accurate and well done Podcast.

Great podcast, but I think it’s time you tackle something a little more challenging. How about Henry J Zac. Who is he ? Well he used to work as a clerk in the money storage vault at the First National Bank of Chicago in 1977 and over a long Columbus Day weekend one million dollars walked...Read full review »

I live nearby and have passed by this building so many times. Love this podcast. Never knew the history of Edgewater Hospital until I listened to it. Highly recommended!

As a former employee of Edgewater Hospital (1984 - 1988), I find this podcast just absolutely fascinating. I left the hospital when the layoffs began and there were rumors of an investor coming in to save the hospital for $1M, so I was not working there when the fraud started. I grew up in...Read full review »

I learned about the program on The WGN Morning News where the presenters were interviewed. As a lifelong resident of Chicago I had vague memories of the scandal. The pod is fascinating, well produced and presented. I don’t like the numerous references to Patteron. I’m an avid history podcast...Read full review »

A few years back while walking around the Edgewater neighborhood in Chicago my wife and I noticed a sprawling hospital-like complex that seemed defunct and eerie. At the time I asked my sister about the buildings. What was the story? She seemed to know only that it used to be a hospital but...Read full review »

I’m loving this podcast... I worked there in the medical records department in my early twenties and I also lived in the apartment building that wad attached and owned by the hospital.

You need not subscribe to the Patreon to enjoy this amazing reminiscence about a forgotten, glittering, Chicago institution that fell and dragged thousands of patients, families, healthcare workers and other workers into a nightmare. Such tremendous work from two people not native to the area,...Read full review »

I do not recommend this podcast. The story is interesting but I feel like I am only getting half the story. They talk about other parts but you have to join patreon to hear the rest. And they are constantly telling you what you missing. Other shows I listen to also have patreon but I never...Read full review »

The host voices are robotic, with no emotion, like this might as well be an infomercial. I think the research is great, and listen-ability would increase 500% if they would re-record the two host parts as if they’re simply talking to the audience.

Usually I lean more towards sports, entertainment, and comedy podcasts, but this hooked me instantly. Todd and Stephani are captivating hosts, and the entire production is top notch. Would love to hear them tackle other stories down the road when this is wrapped up.

Was really excited for this, only a few episodes in but, it’s not as good as I hoped. Seems a bit slow and ALOT of adverts for extra stuff on their patreon. Hi. So excited to see the second episode up. Edgewater Hospital was where my father worked when he came to this country in the late ‘60’s and where my brothers and I were born.
