I’ve read about the sisters before but it’s amazing to have June herself talk about her and Jennifer’s lives. Thank you. I did find it difficult to understand June when I first tried listening on a (not great) speaker in a room but once I switched to earbuds I had no further problem. I hope...Read full review »

This really puts in perspective how our culture takes advantage of vulnerable people and turns them into a spectacle. This is so kindly and respectfully done and exposes the truth of what happened to these poor girls. How different their lives may have been had they had the correct diagnosis and...Read full review »

As a child we had the 80s film “The Silent Twins” on VHS. The story was completely haunting. For me this podcast comes full circle. I have always wondered what happened to the twins and why. This podcast finally tells the story from June Gibbons point of view. What is brilliant about the podcast...Read full review »

This was really fascinating. To hear June talking about the experiences from her own point of you and the dynamic between sisters, who couldn’t live without each other but wanted to kill each other when together, how they shut themselves off to the world… truly interesting.

The British folks were hard to understand except June

This was a really interesting podcast giving the details and voice to a story I’d heard of years ago. Great to hear June’s voice which made this an intimate human story. Sad to hear about the poor treatment of these young women by parts of society, the criminal justice system and the mental...Read full review »

I learned about the twins originally off a episode of Killer kin (Podcast). Hard for me to believe that this was there story. A pull of tug and war about there identity. A shared identity, shared with a twin that Jennifer couldn't seem to recognize or see pass due to differences. Out of...Read full review »

A fascinating story completely ruined by over-production. Darting from one scenario to another like a mosquito on speed. Loud inappropriate and disturbing music along with clunky aural effects ruins the entire listening experience. How NOT to make a podcast!

Distracting from the very interesting topic & the clarity of the voice recordings.

this would of been so much better if the was tv documentary on certain parts of the podcast I couldn’t understand June in certain parts of the podcast which is a shame

Took awhile to get into the interesting part. By episode 4 I was hooked.

I feel awful saying this, but I couldn’t understand a word.

As a Dutch listener I just can’t distinguish what June’s saying. The story is fascinating, but I miss half of it, due to June’s pronunciation. Wonder if it’s the same for British listeners.

It’s a very interesting story but very repetitive.

I’d heard this story on another podcast and it was great to hear the story from June’s perspective. I had no trouble understanding June, the podcast would be pointless told by a story teller as some have suggested.

Fascinating to hear first hand from June. Not sure what other people were listening to as I could understand June perfectly fine. Great podcast, thank you for sharing your story

I really enjoyed (if that’s the right word) listening to this. The story is both fascinating and horrifying. I had no issues understanding June. The suggestion that an actor reads out her part would completely undermine the meaning and impact of the podcast. Listening to her real voice (speech...Read full review »

Very interesting podcast. Unlike others I had no problem understanding June. Hearing her tell her own story made the show for me.

June provides a composed and detailed account of the sisters time in broadmoor. It’s impossible to understand how difficult it must have been for June to recount the challenges they faced in their teens and twenties. I can follow her account clearly and disagree with some of the other reviews. ...Read full review »

I found the June so hard to understand. Her dialogue should have been read by an actor, as so much of it was lost. Very frustrating.

I love this story! But I wish it was a documentary with subtitles. Unfortunately, It is hard to understand June.

I thoroughly appreciated and was touched by the insight June so graciously provided about the complexity of relationships that led her and her sister on a journey which landed them unfairly and very mistakenly in Broadmoor. I hope June is still writing. You were a pleasure to listen too. Only...Read full review »

I could not understand June what she was saying, I don’t think this is a very good podcast I have no idea what they burned down what happened to Junes sister or if they spent anytime away for what they did very confusing podcast. Not for me

Through her honesty it makes you really get into their lives and stories. Still trying to understand their minds.
HRM20241 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/10/24
Compelling and humane to hear such a talked about story in the protagonist’s own words. The insight and value of subjectivity resonates, the producer clearly had a compassionate and special relationship with the speaker.
Onybri via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/07/24
A tragic story very much of it’s time. Society contributed to the alienation of these beautiful, misunderstood girls. They were driven, by the callous, ignorant people around them to retreat into their own world - in order to just survive each day. The sadness I felt, for these girls, made my...Read full review »

But couldn’t help wishing it was on TV so there would have been subtitles; I found it hard to understand June, (which made it a more immersive podcast than most; misunderstanding is the starting point for their whole story) and my frustration with her unclear speech made me realise how people...Read full review »
