“After trying about a dozen different podcasts to learn Chinese, I found that this one is by far the best; and let me tell you why: The other podcasts waist so much time trying to "entertain" you by being funny and/or witty, that they don't give you enough information related to the language. Serge gets right to the point. Furthermore, not only does he have a large number of topics to cover, but he packs in so much vocabulary into each topic, that you can feel that you are learning. And he is consistent in his approach. He's not concerned either about being funny, or waisting your time with his own personal points of view, such as Chinapod, but he simply teaches chinese. His method is easy going, pleasant to listen to, and most importantly, each session "builds upon" the next. In other words, what you learned in previous lessions, will be brought up again in subsequent lessions. It's great. Forget about looking for podcasts that try to make you laugh, or that discuss their own personal problems, and tell you that it's "culture training", because it's not. They are simply waisting your time. Serge get's right to the point, and that's whay you need when you are learning a foreign language. Trust me, time is a valuable commodity, don't waist it if you don't have to.”Read full review »

- he introduces material in...”Read full review »

“Serge's podcasts are great. I used them to learn tones and how to write in pinyin; compared to other Mandarin beginners, I'm steps ahead as many of them can't distinguish tones and certainly can't write them down. His vocabulary is practical and I use his phrases to the surprise...”Read full review »
