This week we took a visit to the Australian award winning Lebanese restaurant Al Aseel (metaphorically speaking that is). With 22 years under their belt it comes as no surprise that the restaurant has venues in 6 different locations.  Making our way to the Alexandria venue, we were certainly not prepared for what lay in store. The menu is filled with an overwhelming amount of tasty Lebanese dishes and the square footage of the venue would fill any covid marshals social distancing dreams. With...

A little PSA for everyone out there who is also thinking about enjoying Korean BBQ, make sure you have at least one party who knows what they are actually doing. There will be fire, coal, scissors, spatulas, and self-adjusting Range-hoods. Coined as a global franchise introducing Korean flavours to the world, 678 Korean...

This week we headed to Zetland to visit one of the many, much loved Kickin'Inn restaurants. The story of Kickin'Inn starts back in 2017 in Dubai when two friends Sami, a fast-food chain owner, and Ravi, a management consultant, came up with a plan to spread fresh, high-quality seafood at affordable prices throughout Australia. The pair have transformed the seafood dining experience by removing cutlery and plates, replacing them with mallets and scissors. Kickin'Inn is no ordinary seafood...

Lights, camera, action! Because it literally felt like we were on the set of a movie walking into Franca Brassiere. The dim lighting, green leather booths and effortless charm simply had us transported. Located on the iconic MacLeay St Potts Point, Franca Brasserie is not your classic French Brasserie. The menu orchestrated by former Bathers Pavilion head chef Alexis Besseau favours the modern and Mediterranean showcasing regional France and neighbouring coastal towns.  With a 2.5 million...

As autumn reaches cold peaks we thought what better way to warm ourselves than to indulge in some hearty Italian food. We know what you’re thinking, wow they’re at Italian again. But...our dear friends, this is not just any Italian joint. Perched up on Macleay St in Potts Point lives a restaurant that goes by the name of Ria Pizza + Wine. This beauty is part of the Bentley group and lives up to its siblings reputation. With an interior that’s been flicked with fluoro paint and an industrial...

Located on one of the busiest streets in Marrickville, Pepitos is already making its mark. Self-described as a rocking neighborhood taberna, first-time restaurant owner Jose Alkon and his team are serving up traditional South American cuisine as we have never seen. The drinks are not to be missed with an extensive wine list featuring local minimal intervention wine, however, the Peruvian Pisco is certainly front and centre. With a fresh white aesthetic with walls covered in posters and family...

There’s fuh and then there’s fuh and Eat Fuh is where it’s at. Before the opening of its permanent venue in Marrickville in 2016 and a second in Darlinghurst in 2018, Eat Fuh was known only to its dedicated market stall followers so when word got out they were moving to bricks and mortar it was a feeding frenzy. But this isn’t any old fuh joint, unlike other Vietnamese restaurants that have passed down recipes owner Hoang Nguyen says he is from a new generation of Vietnamese, reinventing and...

Opened in 2018 by the team who brought us Grandma’s Bar & the Wild Rover, James Bradey and Warren Burns have taken the status quo and thrown it out the fire door exit. Bistecca the backstreet basement restaurant has chins wagging as it has been coined one of Australia’s most unique dining experiences. The Italian classic cocktail bar and restaurant is purely dedicated to Tuscany’s admired cut of steak the Bistecca Alla Fiorentina. The wine list solely features Italian wine, the meat saws...

This week we visited “A Bondi institution” as Raw Bar have so humbly coined themselves. Nestled on the corner of Warners Ave in Bondi Raw Bar is very well known amongst the locals and no stranger to the influencers. Serving up a delicious, fresh and sustainable Japanese menu head chef Shintaro Honda has been heroed for his work in the now iconic venue which since its birth in 1995 has paved the way for the Japanese food scene in Sydney. But is Sushi just Sushi...? See acast.com/privacy for...

This week we hustled our way to Oxford street where we introduced ourselves to a building that will most likely see our faces again...Cafe Freda’s. It has only been a few hot minutes since the Chippendale nightclub Freda’s shut their doors after a fun nine years. And now, much like the original venue, Cafe Fredas has an emphasis on expression, art, and music. Which if you know us here at the OG headquarters well, you know those are three things we absolutely love. With a bright yellow...

This week’s hunt for the best food in Sydney took us to the main street of Redfern and whilst you might walk past the small neon sign, this venue is not to be missed. Kinhboy is another brainchild from the beautiful people who brought us Marble in Barangaroo and Tokki in Surry Hills. This time with a Vietnamese twist. Head chef Peter Wu, who hails from Sunset Sabi and Phomo, has given us his own spin with this “Vietary” trying to fuse together the way Australian’s like to eat with traditional...

Farmer wants a wife or in this case a feed. Originating 40 years ago in Milton a humble little Pilgrims opened its door to the local community. Today the vegetarian café which originated as a simple veggie burger joint has venues in Huskisson, Cronulla, Corrimal, and as of July last year Bronte. With a slogan of “healthy, wholesome and hearty food that tastes simply delicious” there was no doubt Pilgrims would attract that coveted Easty following See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out...

We’re back and we thought it was only fitting to bring in the new year the way we came into last year, and let’s be honest, probably every other year...by eating pasta. Hidden in a nook within Angel Place is a magical little restaurant that goes by the name of Ragazzi. If you close your eyes you could almost be transported to the backstreets of Rome. Inside the Italian style wine bar you’ll find a dim somewhat mysterious room lined with leather booths, surrounded by imperfect painted walls...

For our Christmas special, we decided to go somewhere a bit special. A slight detour past Nomad we landed at the beautiful Ezra, located in Potts Point just a stone's throw from Kings Cross Station. Opening in late August, the restaurant has already begun to cause a stir which is exactly what owners Nick and Kirk Mathews Bowden wanted to do with this Tel Aviv inspired venue. Whilst they both admit to not having any Israeli roots, they were so taken with the electric nightlife and the...

Italian street food meets the streets of King Cross. Until this week none of us had heard about Friggitoria, an Italian Eatery that apparently serves some of the best pasta in Sydney and yet when asking our colleagues and friends they had! So we had to see what all the fuss was about. Nestled amongst a row of quick dine-in options on Bayswater Rd, Friggitoria is serving up fried snacks and a make your own pasta menu. The chef behind it all, Flavio Tosolini, hails from Fourth Village...

This week we visited a Surry Hills staple, Forrester's. Established in 1921 this neighbourhood calling card has been given a facelift by hospitality giants Applejack. Known for the likes of SoCal and The Butler, we expected to see some beautiful spaces and a well designed drinks menu, both which the middle bar Phylli’s delivered. Decorated in fresh greenery and terracotta toned murals, with a menu taking inspiration from the Americas, this is really a step up. In the rest of the venue they...

Health food beach babes that’s who we were channeling this week at Blackwood Pantry in Cronulla. Co-owners Rob Lechowicz, Daniel Sorridimi and Paul Pisani, contacted the best of the best when opening this establishment in 2016 and coffee sits at the centre. In the coffee machine is some of Sydney’s top roasting beans and on the all day menu lives a mixture of colourful sweet and savoury dishes. Aesthetically we didn’t think the venue lived up to the hype it had generated and yet it appears to...
