Matt Baglio did a wonderful job in capturing the life and times of a policeman known to locals as G.I. Joe. In the special series follow-up episode, you can sense Baglio’s frustration with the lack of local cooperation among his potential podcast guests. To me, it still shines and is simply...Read full review »

I enjoyed this podcast for awhile and it’s well put together but I couldn’t complete listening to season 1 because I’m astounded by the resources spent on investigating the deaths of white men in contrast to when Black men are killed by police and Indigenous women go missing. Wondering if the...Read full review »

This was good. Didn't expect the end. The recap was a bit boring and people should not be swallowing into the mic.Read full review »

If Joe had gunpowder on his hand, and his pistol had only been discharged twice, and the two bullets, (found in his body and phone) came from his gun, then he committed suicide. Detectives should have caught onto this immediately.

There was a teaser that sounded like it would be an eyewitness account but sounded like a dream. Also episode 4 is pointless. Just rehashing everything

The story is put together okay, and slightly interesting. But stopped listening to the last two episodes. Not because they wanted you to pay, but because the story became annoying. There was just too much focused on how appalled cops and detectives were that someone could even commit a crime....Read full review »

I listened to the first few Fox Lake episodes but feel a little tricked that to finish the series I am forced to subscribe. Not happening; this just pisses me off and makes me very reluctant to listen to anything from Wondery.

Really good podcast, season 3 is intriguing, only draw back is way to many adverts for such short episodes. 😎

This is very insulting and upsetting for you fans. You force us to pay to listen to the last episodes of you seasons? You lost me too!

Almost stopped listening after an uninteresting first episode, but a fascinating story ultimately.

I started with Fox Lake. Although there are a couple of seasons of the anthology series worth listening too, most are an uphill slog through toxic masculinity with male hosts who aren’t willing to fully confront it. There are a plethora of podcasts out there aspiring to tell the stories of...Read full review »

I was looking forward to an interesting story about a hero and yet the person was corrupt. Would’ve never listened had I know this season focused on the lies and corruption of a cop and had blame placed on BLM.

The question is “ What is the Fox Lake podcast that dragged on for 6 episodes?

This podcast is without a doubt one of the best I’ve had the privilege to listen to. Hearing the perspective of the policeman gave me a better understanding how hard it must have been for him. Kudos Sir. The only downside is I can’t afford a sub to Wondery and I had to wait to listen to them...Read full review »

Yep — instead of spending six hours you can never recover just Google your subject and be done with it in six minutes. In Season Three you get to hear bitter policeman George “Foul”lenko in all his potty mouth illiteracy. No wonder he was nervous about participating in a press conference : he...Read full review »

It seems like they left us kind of dangling on season three how do I keep falling for these inconclusive true crime podcasts

Listened to season 3.Interesting story about pulling the curtain back on the type of dude we know all too well….over the top, narcissists, that fool many community members into thinking he was a “hero”. Started well then turned into over dramatized nonsense. Could have covered the material in two 30 minute episodes.
Starkinwinterfell77 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/08/21
Look. The story laid out here is gripping. The format is infuriating. Ad breaks what feels like every two minutes. This could have been one two hour podcast and it would have CRUSHED. As it is you get about 20 minutes of content in a 40 minute episode. I don’t think anyone actually likes the...Read full review »

Way too many commercials. Close to 30% is commercials! Season 1 was compelling so I stuck with it but then updates were behind a paywall! I immediately unfollowed and I’m not listening to anymore wonders podcasts!

The fact that at the end of this series you are requiring a subscription to finish the season is crap!
Srunius via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/08/21
I listen to podcasts constantly and, although I had heard of this story before and knew the outcome, this is so well-written and such a good flow. Definitely worth listening. And for those in the Fox Lake PD who allowed GI Joe to run all over people for three decades, shame on you.

It wasn’t worth more than 2 episodes. Hard to care for any of the characters. We need more updates on Tally

The story sounded interesting but after about 30 minutes I could not take the overdramatized narration anymore . It’s just unnecessary in a story like this. So annoying

Season three just proceeds to badmouth the victim. People are probably ok with this only because he was a cop—if this was anyone else it would be swept under the rug. I understand that he had his flaws, but it’s in really poor taste. OH and you can’t finish it without paying. I would just skip...Read full review »

The writing & interviews with the those involved give a clear, concise and believable account of covered cases. Started listening because of Fox Lake & was so pulled in I have binged Tiger King & 1/2 way through Talley! Fascinating!

The story was important, but the reporting was so artificially enunciated it was hard to listen to. You can tell a story more professionally, the facts without the false emotion
Zombiedog24 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/03/21
The narration is a challenge, to put it mildly. The tone is cartoonish and distracting. At the same time, over-the-top cheesiness might be the best way to present the perpetual bumbling fiascos taking place in Chicagoland. Everything you’ve heard is true.

I was due for a new podcast. While I was working at my desk job, I finished the entire series..
ChellyMielke via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/02/21
What a bait and blatant money grab this is. As if every episode isn’t stuffed with as many commercials as possible, listen to all of that and then have no option but to pay if you want to finish it. Thanks for wasting my time, I won’t make that mistake again with you Wondery. RUDE.
