Misogyny is alive and well
You admittedly shoot someone in the face and you do no time in jail?! This could only be the luck of a white man in America. Especially a white man in Florida - the same State that gave Jeffrey Epstein a pass on for raping poor, female children. Jennifer Portman’s diligence was excellent, but even she got lured into the tale as old as time that the woman is to blame because she doesn’t “act right” and the man who shoots the face off of his “best friend” is innocent because he’s under this woman’s spell. Any foreigner regarding this case would see the American “justice” system as biased and as easily manipulated as the incredibly jaw-dropping heinous injustice used in Indonesia and Thailand to prosecute accused. We judge their justice systems as so impossibly inhumane that we spend money making movies and documentaries to bring awareness to the sealed fate of those prosecuted outside of a democracy. Meanwhile, we are just as terribly manipulated and easily blinded by the whiteness and (feigned) vulnerability of these American men, that we let them off the hook. We pin the blame on the woman he’s identified as inexplicably in control of the man’s actions. Second to the men themselves, we as a society are responsible and should be held accountable for the crimes of white men because those men know, prior to committing the crime, that they’ll likely be let off the hook as long as there is a woman in close proximity to his crime. Why are we so gullible when in comes to white men? What is so special about them that they’re not held accountable for an admitted murder? We are STUPID F-ING IDIOTS to think Brian should not be prison for kidnapping AND murder. If I were a white man, I’d be letting everyone know that there’s nothing so special about white men that should allow them to shoot and kill someone and then turn and blame it on their girlfriend or the person they killed (another victorious white man murder defense).

This excellent story telling at its best. It’s an in-depth, fact based tale of a society marriage which all went wrong tragically.
