It’s like a less cranky, less reactionary version of the “Word in your Ear” podcast. S’good.

This was a great podcast. Unfortunately post pandemic it’s gotten away from what made it great—interviews with great writers who told interesting stories. That combined with cohost Mark “Yeah Yeah” Pringle makes it now unlistenable for me. Cohost Barney Hoskyns is quiet when a guest is talking....Read full review »

Seems this chaps inability to use the letter t hasn’t impeded his career as a music journalist, perhaps his compuder has autocorrect. Just as well he wasn’t attempting to write about equestrianism. Doubtless he’ll blame his working class upbringing, possibly bullshid.

Brilliant podcast. These guys love music and those who write intelligently about it. They have deep knowledge of their subjects but speak with humility and humor. Wish the ratings went up to 11 because they deserve it.

The in depth conversations are great, the hosts have lots of knowledge. The one annoyance is that horrid laugh that one of the hosts overdoes. He should listen back to some of the shows.

The best music podcast out there. These guys know their stuff but they know that you like what you like and be damned with the received wisdom rock canon stance. Each episode a guest, often a music writer, joins the discussion- always interesting/thought provoking. Excellent.

Wonderful show. Learned a lot as these guys have been at it for years. And unlike so many other Podcasts they aren’t full of themselves and are obviously just having a good time and talking about a subject they love.

Great insights from eclectic guests and hosts. Someone should though give Mark Pringle a Chupa Chup each episode so he talks slower, quieter and less often. It might also quieten down his hideous nervous laugh.

I’m ashamed to say I only caught on to this podcast about a year ago but I’ve listened to about thirty episodes and just think the whole thing is superb. Just listened to the Robert Greenfield show and thought it the best so far. So informative and a really worthy archive. I don’t understand why...Read full review »

Having spent my teens and early twenties devouring the NME every week I was delighted to discover that one of my favourite writers hosts this superb podcast. It is frequently an absorbing listen and has become my favourite amongst the nine podcasts I currently subscribe to.

It's like an education on rock through the ages (starting around 1956). Barney, Mark, and Jasper -- and their various FANTASTIC guests-- go into delightful and remarkably erudite discussions about all the stars across popular music who touched or crossed their paths, and ours -- who were...Read full review »

Love the musical knowledge, the guests and the banter. Can’t abide the smug, 6th form common room, self-satisfied, media-liberal lefty political comments. Can you please start a new podcast and put your political stuff on there? Wonder how successful that would be 🤣

Top class fellers love it. Appreciate the diversity and the rabbit holes that the various articles inevitably lead me down. Keep up the fine work, maybe consider some closer micing for your recordings. Bring on the shirts. Snearingly awake! DGF

Pringle and Hoskyns generally know their stuff although their Tobler interview with John Prine was painful. All were ignorant about Country music. Why go there? (Also btw J Prine is now an Americana icon). Smug forays onto politics is wearying. Fine, you don’t like Trump, but don’t assume all...Read full review »

Some interesting subjects and great guests but I just find Barney Hoskins impossible to listen to. Seems like as much an opportunity to show off his encyclopaedic knowledge of music than to showcase his guests.
