This used required listening both when presented by the peerless Steve Hewlett and, following his sad death, by Amol Rajan, it is almost unlistenable with the latest presenters. Firstly, this show just doesn’t need two presenters — I think this is just a decision blindly to follow the standard...Read full review »

Very enjoyable and accessible insight into the media world with engaging presenters and wide range of perspectives.

I really struggled to hear Alex Mahon, she is a quiet talker and no one seemed to adjust her mic level in comparison with the host, content is great when the contribs mic levels are right

Seems like a glaring omission - where are your voices on this. There is so much that needs saying

I knew the BBC was left wing but this program is unlistenable to anyone from the center of politics, particularly as it tries to cover the US…it’s always the same diatribe of leftist tropes. Now they’re doubling dow by repeatedly interviewing Brian Stelter…the fired CNN executive and serial left...Read full review »

Please, it would be much appreciated if the invited guests you feature could deliver clear, professional-quality audio.

Weirdly BBC presenters regard newspaper readers as being responsible for all the problems therein, but not the journalists. Don’t tune in to learn about the Lebedev media empire here. The presenters don’t think that the Sun or Mail have ever printed racist copy, and still believe that Brexit...Read full review »

Can’t believe how poor the quality of the episode on GB News was. Really quite unbelievable the way it was produced to feel like light entertainment rather than challenging some of the shocking statements that were uttered. If this wasn’t the BBC, I’d just think it was pathetic and move on, but...Read full review »

Deleted this show from my list - new presenter seems to think they’ve got something to prove. No longer pleasant to listen to.

This show used to be so good but the current host, Katie ?, rarely lets her guests answer questions before she interrupts. And she seems unable to manage a show to a timetable, abruptly cutting off guests because “we’ve run out of time”.
SamQ via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 08/28/22
Far too many guests for a 28 minute programme. Two would suffice.

Glad to see you challenge that disgraceful vulture. He wouldn’t stop talking over you to try to get out his fake defense of pretty much everything he’s done. He can’t stop himself but intelligent listeners know his tactics. Let’s not mistake what he does as journalism. He’s certainly entitled to...Read full review »

Katie Razzall’s interview with John Witherow is an utter disgrace. So much for BBC impartiality.

How very BBC to take a superb programme that was a roaring success and ruin it by introducing a disastrously unsuitable new presenter.

The new presenter makes this un-listenable.What used to be a good, insightful show is ruined by someone who can barely speak in sentences.
leonkay via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 06/03/21
I miss Amol Rajan already. The new presenter does not pronounce his consonants and talks in street speak on serious journalism which does not set a good example for forthcoming journalists on the BBC. I hope he is not permanent.

Amol is one of the very best. I’m not a media insider but always learn something new about the business. A great listen. Don’t leave it Amol!

One of my favourite shows. Interesting interviewees and Mr Rajan’s industry knowledge is impressive.

I listen to the media show pretty much every week, unlike most podcasts where I pick and choose episodes every few weeks. This is because the topics Amol touches on in each episode are always interesting, on the cutting edge of the media industry, and often offer profound insights on how we live...Read full review »

I love this podcast and the interviews are almost always incisive. A shame Mark Thompson’s was so soft. As DG he defended massive pay differentials, did nothing for gender imbalance or diversity. Issues now boiling over. Very much Thompson is the old mates club and you could sense that in this...Read full review »

Needs either longer episodes or maybe more frequent with fewer guests / subjects as it tends to be a bit of a romp. Amol took a bit of time to settle into the role, being a bit cocky and smart ass in the early episodes. Now he is more relaxed and asks really probing questions
bobtv via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/05/20
Amol is worthy of the whole 5 star rating himself, especially as unlike the majority of bbc presenters, he doesn’t love the sound of his own voice 👍
Derek9031 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 04/07/20
Amol is one of the best journalists out there. Asks hard hitting questions when needed but also knows how to tease out the very best from his guests. Keep up the good work

BBC coverage of the referendum was roundly criticized for its lack of focus and acceptance of disingenuous information without challenge. Now with the fate of Britain’s parliamentary system at stake, BBC’s disinterested coverage is once again lacking. No change in scheduling, no change in the...Read full review »

There is a dearth of information on the subject of media in broadcasting. The BBC has the best of it here but only for a short half hour per week. For that reason the show is rushed. It is worth at least 45 minutes and I believe a full hour. No one is devoting any time to this subject. How about...Read full review »

A year ago I said this: ‘A really fascinating glimpse into the media world. great show on relevant contemporary topics. Guests are always major players in the media and stories being covered are relevant and contemporary. Amol Rajan takes no prisoners with piercing questions and insistent lines of enquiry - one of the best on the beeb. Consistently riveting.

Great for anyone interested to n the media and how it portrays the weeks stories. The host, Amol Rajan, is not afraid to challenge guests and their medium which makes this a refreshing listen.
