The male narrator absolutely killed what could be a great podcast. His narration is over enunciated, halting and so slow it lacks emotion. The female narrator is almost as bad but not quite as slow. Almost sounds more like AI. I can’t listen more than 20-30 mins at a time. Speeding it up makes it...Read full review »

Whether or not this was a homicide case, this podcast highlights the high rate of domestic violence in Australia, and how it is imperative that the authorities need to address the problem.

The last episode of this podcast is difficult to listen too. When Liam pulls it all together and explains the evidence, how people think this is a suicide is outrageous. He/they got away with murder. Outrageous.

Love the podcast. However I tried to join the partition on Change.Org and the partition named Justice for Amy is not about this case. How can I sign?

I can’t believe this outrageous case, is the coroner related to the murderous husband?
Disey May via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 09/18/24
What is happening to our coronial inquests around Australia? More and more the findings come across as ambiguous fluff - safe … pointless. But … ahh the magic that we see unfolding in podcast land. I love watching the ball of justice as it gathers momentum for Amy … episode by episode the...Read full review »

Downloaded a few eps but didn’t last more than 5 mins. Is this voice AI? It’s slow, stilted and sounds like a robot!

This is a good podcast and I’m early into the episodes. I do find Liam hard to listen to, though. In interviews he’s so natural. The narration though, he speaks haltingly and stiff. It’s quite hard to listen to during those parts because it doesn’t sound genuine. Sorry mate… Don’t like leaving...Read full review »

Parts of this were insufferable to listen to, some of the questioning felt super condescending and today tonight-ish.

Congratulations to Amy’s family, journalists and legal advocates for putting together such a shocking investigation of negligence on the part of WA’s criminal justice institutions. We should all feel terrified knowing that should we be victims of domestic violence, we are unlikely to ever receive...Read full review »

Thank you for highlighting this important miscarriage of justice. Given how important this podcast is please edit the audio. The levels and clarity of sound need improvement.

As a domestic violence survivor I understand and resonate with the injustice for so many women who suffer at the hands of their partner. For Amy, she paid the ultimate price and it pains me to see that justice has not been served. A 10 year battle and still no resolution. Thanks Liam and team...Read full review »

Such a shame that the WA police did not investigate this properly on the day that it happened. This podcast has brought to light the injustice here that Amy’s death was not given a proper investigation. Instead the detectives simply decided it was suicide and case closed - absolutely gross...Read full review »

I love how the investigative journalists can play detectives perfectly and get to the bottom of what really happened to Amy. Such a heartbreaking treatment of Amy, her daughters and Amy’s family. The police could not have screwed this case up more if they tried. You can’t make this stuff up. I...Read full review »

Hope and prey for justice. Great work

I like many people are horrified by the abhorrent way this case has been handled by the WA police and coroner. Failures on so many levels, and no justice for Amy. I pray this miscarriage of justice is rectified.

I’m half way through and this podcast is quite slow and repetitive, in a similar way to Hedley Thomas’ various podcasts which tend to drag on and on… Liam Bartlett also sounds like a robot which is quite jarring to listen to. Also the way mental health is discussed is uncomfortable at times - the...Read full review »

Are the crippling vestigial limbs still attached to our lives that comes from our dark understanding of people as property; whether they be women, children, or men. We then have to take a critical look back into our long journey through history and cultures that glorify so many aspects of this,...Read full review »

How on earth did this event make it to an inquest? Its as plain as the nose on your face. Shame on the attending detectives for their disinterest and for the decision not to bring forensics in. A simple background check on Amy’s partner, who I imagine was very well known to police anyway, would...Read full review »

Shame, but the echo treatment to the narrator & constant background music is unbearable. No clue how it’s rated #1.

Thank god for the journalists. What amazing work you have done to get to this point. As my mum would have said “blind Freddy could see that”……it wasn’t a suicide

This is such a sad and important story, how the people looking into this couldn’t even look at the her saying let’s go to nans, wait I need something from inside, oh I’m going to kill myself?!?!?! Episode 10- wow! Just when I thought that the evidence of homicide couldn’t be more blindingly obvious- it becomes even more obvious. Look what a day of investigation reveals. Unfortunately I don’t think the detectives cared very much. Suicide? Yep. Too easy. Amy would not have put her kids in the car then shot herself in the head. The potential for her girls to see it was too high. It’s all very suspicious and I hope this podcast pushes the powers that be to take...Read full review »

I’m so glad Amys family fought for justice because only hearing the first episode I can already see that Amy didn’t commit suicide. A tragic story that is reasonably well told. Does come across like a bit of a witch hunt, rather than a balanced investigation.
KramQ via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 08/19/24
Episodes tend to drag due to repetitive information or harbouring too long on the same point. The story does not build effectively. The same issue was found with previous podcast series from the same producers which is a shame because the stories are worth telling.

Unfortunately the narration makes this important story unlistenable. It couldn’t be worse if it was done by AI

Worthwhile case and I feel for the family but the podcast feels like it’s being needlessly dragged out. The episodes give little additional information.

I'm not sure why people have whinged about the narration. I think it was very well read. David & Gareth on the other hand sound like absolute pathetic cowards. A very sad story that I have no doubt could have been solved if a detective wasn't going on holidaysRead full review »

Very sad story with interesting investigation however some of it feels disrespectful when harassing people who clearly don’t want to engage and including it for a large part of episodes.

I feel so sorry for Amy’s girls. They deserve to know the truth of what happened to their mother. Finally the story is getting out there of many DV stories like this that have ended tragically. Hopefully someone breaks soon and tells the truth.

As others have mentioned, Liam’s newsreader style ruins this podcast. The female narrator also does not have a voice suitable for podcasts. Channel 7 should look for a more natural narration with warmth like Hedley Thomas.

This is a very sad story that needs to be heard. It breaks your heart that these girls lost their beautiful Mum. It’s so hard not to cry and the song at the end of the podcast. 😢 May the truth come to light Amy.

The interview of Gareth just went around in circles and was annoying to listen to. The fact he says he is drunk mid interview, I feel the interviewer should have stopped with the further questioning. The flippant disregard for substance addiction was appalling.

It’s a good podcast but unfortunately Liam Bartlett’s pacing and intonation don’t suit a podcast. If he could relax into the different medium he would probably be fine but as it is, it’s difficult to listen to.

Liam makes this almost unlistenable - I’m hearing an important story but missing crucial details because of the awful narration. It’s horrible! Why on earth did nobody pick up on this in editing ? It sounds like he’s talking about a dodgy tradie on a current affair.

This story needs to be shared and heard. It’s a shame that it’s presented by Liam Barnett, as others have said, sensationalised 60 min style, badgering people for a story, judgemental and bullying. Lacks authenticity.
