I love this podcast but the production seems to be getting worse and worse. Why am I hearing two Leila’s at the same time? Why do the volume levels continue to be off during each episode? Keep the great reviews coming but pls so some basic checks for mic + audio levels before recording and...Read full review »

While looking for additional information about the venerable Saw franchise, I came upon the "Truth and Movies: A Little White Lies" podcast, and I couldn't be happier that I did. This podcast has far surpassed my expectations as a devoted Saw fan. The hosts' level of knowledge...Read full review »

I can not listen to this podcast. It’s like speaking to someone on a mobile while on a train. The sound is so bad I regularly just switch off after the first few minutes. Please just use you phones to record an audio track while your on the zoom call. Also, stop using AirPods.

I’m convinced these people loathe movies
FtLouie via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/15/23
The contributors come across as smug and sycophantic at times. There is a lot of talk of the film festivals they have attended to watch film premieres. Lots of Cannes name dropping. This comes across as self congratulatory and isn’t relatable for the average film fan, nor is it relevant to the...Read full review »

Really enjoyed listening to this podcast from the beginning to now. Its greatest strength is its diverse range of critics with so much passion and interest in film - it really gets me excited about films I’ve not seen much coverage of elsewhere. Plus thoughtful insight into the latest blockbusters.

Unsubscribed. Not one person on this sounds likeable. I must have watched completely different films. I disagreed with every review they gave. I must not be there demographic 🤷🏼

Ive listened to this for over five years, but its seriously lost its way a real shame

Leila Latif is an awesome host - funny, insightful, whip smart and a quip queen! Exactly what this podcast needed!

There is a noticeable shift in vibrancy since Leila Latif took over and I am here for it. Always interesting and love the balance of new film and archive.

Meh

Would get five stars if they didn’t um-and-ah so much and if the sound wasn’t so faint… surely easy to fix? 😊

It really depends on who the guests are, but it’s more of a miss than a hit. The extent of the analysis of Dune is that it is “humourless” and “cold”. While, boringly and rather predictably, they love art undergrad’s favourite…Wes Anderson. No real critique here of how he seems to do the same...Read full review »

I’m sorry for this to be my first review of any show ever hear. I’ll make it short and sweet. Overall a plethora of lovely hosts and guests. Very likable people. But it just feels way too elitist. Nerd culture and fandom feels frowned upon and cast aside as it’s only the small indie or red...Read full review »

Pretentious beyond belief. Jimbo at least gave a counterbalance to the naval gazing. More ‘trouble at Milne’ type puns, and less Carl Anka inflecting his speech like a fat schoolgirl discussing her feelings over a bottle of Lambrini... I love it when people have a different opinion to me on...Read full review »

This is a wonderful review show of current films that also features a classic or under-appreciated movie. This is a show for people with open minds. Those who go hunting for media to label as “too woke” can spend time elsewhere.

A bunch of poshos getting together to say “yah” a lot. Dire, can only imagine how bad their magazine is as I would never give these double barrelled toffs a £

Grateful to have found this. Always a good selection of movies and a great range of opinions.

Excellent at times but is just too “inside baseball.” Feels like a podcast where the audience is actually irrelevant. Smart, eloquent, cogent discourse on film is always welcome - but this is by the podcasters for the podcasters AC Jimbo sorely missed - kept it real - but he probably doesn’t...Read full review »

Like, this podcast is like, ok, but like unfortunately it’s rendered, like, completely unlistenable by like, every like, sixth word from like, the hosts being like...like.

If I was somehow both pretentious AND inarticulate I wouldn’t want to make podcasts, but then I’m blessed with a sense of self awareness. It’s a profoundly underrated trait, believe me.

Don’t even know where to start. The most recent Lockdown podcast with Hannah Woodhead was dumbfoundingly awful. A film reviewer that can’t watch films for no apparent reason due to Lockdown and defaults to watching Buffy and the Simpson’s, and chooses to rewatch Pirates of the Caribbean films....Read full review »

I enjoy listening to the reviews and interviews. The reviews are well written even if I don’t always agree with them but I can tell the writers love movies just as much as me. I’ve got plenty of examples of movies I disagree with them on (Jojo rabbit, Blade Runner 2049, etc.) but I can...Read full review »

Serious but not too-serious weekly reviews that keep you up to date on the cinema releases that matter. A solid sidekick to the world’s best film magazine!
Ric Rawlinzo via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 03/11/20
I started to listen to this in the very beginning and it was fresh and interesting. And Jimbo kept it real. Now sadly, they seem to hate all the films I love, and they love films that are just too niche for me. If you are looking for mainstream film reviews, I think you would be better off...Read full review »

Please just simply list out the movies in the episode titles. It’s really annoying the way you changed it. Doesn’t make it better at all. Will change my review to 5 if you do.

two of them new in cinemas plus one for home entertainment. I like the different views and the balanced male-female ratio. Nicely done.

Used to enjoy this podcast, especially with AC at the helm, he used to balance the show, but since he’s left it feels like a group of pretensions kids getting kicks out of slating movies. Jimbo was the only good thing about it.
esco367 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 11/14/19
Originally subscribed as AC Jimbo presented, but stuck with it post his departure. Like many of the other reviews has mentioned, the pretentiousness has reached new levels. Calling it quits now.

You cheeky sods. I don’t want to have to listen to the whole thing to know which films you’ll be talking about. Change it back to the way it was before.
GirthGunn via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/17/19
The critics seem to automatically be over critical of popular movies...simply because a lot of the general public enjoy them. Just enjoy it for what it is! Was much much better with James Richardson as host, he represented a more average film goer!

I know it’s basically de rigour for film critics to be pretentious- but you guys really raise the bar. Please get over yourselves & bore off

Go and see Joker before listening to the Truth and Movies review of it. A masterpiece of a movie. A cloth eared, tone deaf review.
