As a historian I’m picky about which history podcasts I listen to. They have to be accurate but still entertaining. Ann manages to do both superbly well. If you like drunk history, sarcasm, and problematic faves then I promise you won’t be disappointed!

I like the idea of a casual history podcast. The Catherine de Medici part one was unlistenable. The amount of likes and ramblings made no sense. I don’t even mind the word like-I use it a lot but it was used as a placeholder because she didn’t know what she was saying next. 45 minutes in and they...Read full review »

Land the plane! Land the plane! If the host would do research before recording, stay on topic, and include less filler (you don’t need to say CI-TAY or use the adjective “hot” over and over again. I really wanted to like this podcast, but I want the meat, not the bones.

This isn’t for anyone who takes History seriously.

Like laughing with a friend but you learn stuff at the same time. None of the pretension that so many “serious” historians have. Also, Ann uses the exact correct number of times saying “like” when she talks, every time. Perfect, 5 stars, highly recommend.

I have my Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science but my profession has nothing to do with my degree. I listen to this pod cast during my lulls are work and it has saved my boredom. Ann is a great narrator and makes it funny! It is also refreshing to have the spot light on the ladies of...Read full review »

Everyone, do yourselves a favour and listen to this brilliant, insightful, funny, and inspiring podcast. Ann says the word “like” an appropriate amount of times and I love everything she does!

i’m so glad I discovered this podcast. nothing like listening to stories of remarkable woman with Ann as a host (who has an awesome voice and says “like” the perfect amount).

Love this Podcast, and Ann’s style (especially the very appropriate number of times she says ‘like’). Serious entertaining, and fun to learn about so many cool women in history

I’ve been listening since pretty much the beginning but recently decided to binge it from the beginning. Never left a review because I listen in Spotify, so this is my first review. Lol I total forgot about the “like” battle, so here I am as instructed, downloading Apple Podcasts just so I can...Read full review »

Have recommended this podcast to almost everyone I know! Never knew that my niche interest in looking at badass historical women from a vaguely camp point of view was shared by so many-but boy was I delighted by this discovery. Episodes are funny, informative, and completely addictive. Also Ann’s...Read full review »

I enjoy the most of the content, although it was up until recent seasons, predominantly Western European-focused. As a person of color, it does truly annoy me that the host thinks they are progressive when they only call out the United States and the United Kingdom, and not their homeland of...Read full review »

I love this podcast and most episodes are great but I have to say that the interview with John Guy and Julie Fox was painful. I couldn’t stand how John talked over Julie the entire time.

I can’t believe I just only discovered Vulgar History this year. It ticks so many of my boxes. Feminist. Women’s history. Comedy. Yes, all of the above, please! The research is top-notch. The stories are riveting. I love this show!

I started listening a few weeks ago and have come to absolutely love this podcast. I want to be best friends with the host. Ann is an awesome storyteller. I feel like I’m hearing an interesting story from a friend, not something boring in class. I’m so glad I found this podcast. Not only does she say like the appropriate number of times, she could even say that more. Thank you for this amazingness!

This podcast series is entertaining and funny at times. My issue is there seems to be some wrong information included amongst the stories (for example, Portugal was never bigger than it is now- from the Inês episode) and that it’s not vulgar enough? I just feel like there needs to be a little...Read full review »

This podcast is amazing. Historical women such as Queen Mary, Catherine De Medici, Aethelflead, etc, are my favorite thing to learn about (Mary the most- Long May She Reign!) As a fan of the early seasons, I was really excited to hear Ann’s spin and unique take on Mary, Queen of Scots. I’m a fan of the podcast in its previous incarnations where it’s Ann, Hepburn, and maybe a special episode with a guest every now and again. The most recent season has been insufferable...Read full review »

Great podcast, I’ve recommended you to all my friends. Thank you P.S. Like I didn’t even notice like how many times like you say “like”; so like keep on like saying “like” all you want. Like who cares?

I absolutely love this show!! It is equally funny and fascinating! It feels like your listening to your best friend tell you all the juicy gossip over coffee.

I REALLY REALLY wanted to like this show topic is very on brand for me. But the hosts voice is very timid and she seems to talk in run on sentences; always adding in other ‘tidbits’ but in odd places. If you can get over that it’s probably ok. But I couldn’t focus on what she was saying at all.

This podcast wonderfully brings the lesser known stories to light, giving the listener a broader perspective and understanding of history and histories. Ann’s style of telling the stories are engaging, alive and entertaining.

I’ve learned so much from this show. The conversational tone makes it so easy to listen to. Used the word “like” the perfect amount of times for people who aren’t misogynists. ❤️

How do I love this podcast? Let me count the ways. It’s funny as hell, with callbacks and recurring themes that get more delicious the more you listen. It’s informative without being dry. Love the podcast and the format is relaxed but well researched. I also absolutely love how much you she loves the show Reign! I am obsessed with the show and the costumes, so sad it was removed from Netflix. Definitely would recommend this podcast.

I think the podcast is well-done in terms of research and explanation. It’s not a dry lecture; it’s very casual. Lots of side rants, which I personally enjoy. It makes history very accessible. Vulgar History is one of my favorite podcasts to listen to! It’s funny and light but also really informative. Randomly listened to the charles dickens episode and seems like her only agenda is to bash men.
