“This series tries way too hard to tug at the heartstrings and blame the system for the actions of an unhinged loony. No, police can’t bust down someone’s door on allegations that he’s a rotten guy. Yes, you can buy police uniforms and old police cars. Yes, you can make decals. In an effort to wring the last bit of pathos out of a horrid event, the presenter comes across as gratingly naive. Why try so hard to “personalize” the victims, are they trying (quite unnecessary) to convince listeners that they didn’t deserve to die? No murder victim deserves to die, you needn’t spend hours convincing us what great people they were. This series wouldn’t lose anything by being ten hours shorter.”
