Painful
A bunch of deeply unpleasant mediocrities go on a road trip and spread the misery around. The concept might be fine for a 2 hr movie but as a series, it makes you just want to light yourself on fire because everyone, especially Jack I-don’t-care-to-know-which-one, is needlessly horrible (edited for mistake in character’s name). It does not help that the show is filtered through rose colored glasses nostalgia that asks of you to dismiss Jack insulting a waitress for no reason, as “Ah, the dumb things we did in those halcyon days.” I’m not holding my breath that the plot won’t be ultimately about how the protagonist will learn that the girl he badgers into promising to go to prom with him if he has money, will turn out to be not worthy of his affections. One wonders if this character will be allowed to internalize how deeply screwed up he is to think he can buy affection and how that is not the thought process of someone who is a good person, much less a good boyfriend.
