MAILBAG QUESTION: BALL SPOTTING
Q - How do you elminate the guesswork, controversy, and delays surrounding ball spotting?
A - After the ball is downed, it is moved to the nearest yard line, closest to midfield.
Example 1 - You receive a kick and return it to your own 31.5 yard line. The ball would be advanced to the 32 yard line for 1st down.
Example 2 - You are driving down the field and get tackled just inside the opponent’s 1 yard line, short of the end zone. The ball would be moved back to the 1 yard line for 1st and Goal.
