Understandable and Profound
Rabbi Shmuel Herzfeld has done a great thing by recording these podcasts that are at one time understandable — without needing a working proficiency in Yeshivish — and at the same time profound. Rabbi Herzfeld does not try to go through the entire text of the daily Talmud page; rather, he focuses on an important spiritual message from the material. This is an excellent way to step a foot into the sea of the Talmud.
