Listen now
Description
In today’s episode, Jillian talks about the impact of eating disorders on bone health in adolescents/teens. During adolescence and childhood, bone tissues increase and start to develop to help build our bones strong and healthy for the rest of our lives. The tricky situation is that as bone density increases, weight increases, which can flare up eating disorder thoughts, feelings and behaviours. This means that the adolescent phase is crucial in making sure the child has a strong skeleton for them to rely on and use for the duration of their life.   Did you know folx living with anorexia nervosa are at a 7x higher risk for a bone fracture later in life compared to peers of the same age that have comparable structures outside of having an eating disorder? ► To learn more about the bone health and eating disorders in children and teens, head over to our blog at https://changecreateschange.com/bone-health-and-eating-disorders/
