Thorough, well-crafted, and thoughtful
I fear this show has spoiled me for all other music podcasts. Andrew Hickey is so thorough and approaches his subjects with such genuine care that everything else suffers in comparison. He’s also aware of, and very upfront about, the potential limitations & biases in his reporting, a depressingly rare trait that I deeply appreciate. Though it is tempting to skip around to your favorite songs, it’s worth starting the show from the beginning. The narrative threads and recurring characters are very rewarding.

My first listen of this podcast was “You Really Got Me,” one of my favorite rock songs from a favorite band. This was well researched, and the engaging narrative was enhanced by well-placed clips of the music. Even life-long fans will gain a new understanding of the roots of this classic.
