Description
Christine Lashley is a American landscape oil painter who says the beauty of a moment held in memory and fusing reality and the abstract, are key elements of her style. Christine was born in San Francisco in 1967 but moved when she was still a baby. Her father Charles worked for the US government which involved being frequented relocated. Her mother Marta was a stay at home mom who, aside from raising Christine and her sister Rebecca, was a doll-maker. Because of the transient lifestyle of her family, Christine attended four different high schools. When her mother spotted her natural talent she was encouraged to pursue art. At the age of 17, Christine studied at the Sorbonne and Parsons in Paris. It was there that she was spotted for a different talent and offered work as a fashion model, which led to international travel and living the high life for a while. But after two years Christine decided she wanted to go back to school so she returned to the US and gained a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis. Her first job was in graphic design and creating murals for set design in theater and ballet. She met her husband in college and the couple moved to Seattle before moving east to Boston and then the Washington, DC area. Christine currently lives in Reston, VA and has two daughters who are both artistic.
