Episode 136: The Horrific Murder of Matthew Shepard
Matthew Shepard was a 21-year old student attending the University of Wyoming, and, in 1998, had finally felt like he’d found his people in the gay/LGBT+ community. After suffering severe trauma in his teen years, and struggling with his mental health, things were looking up for the first time in a long while. One evening, Matt crossed paths with two men who tortured him and left him for dead in a desolate area. Matt’s case changed legislation for hate related crimes regarding queer people across the nation.
