Cobalt is an essential mineral used in the manufacturing of batteries used to power phones, computers and electric cars. Demand for cobalt is on the rise as the world tends to turn towards clean renewable(electric) energy. It is reported however, that about 80 percent of the earth’s cobalt is deposited in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). This episode follows the direct and indirect exploitation of the DRC by international bodies and companies like Apple, Samsung, Microsoft and Tesla and how this exploitation support the current genocide in the Congo.
