“Love the author, but I disagree with the premise. Ref’s still report to the NBA commissioner & the commissioner is the problem.
Look no further than the suspension of Draymond green a few years back. Take a look at the foul totals in that series after Silver single handedly imposed a technical foul on green for a play in which Lebron fouled green, not the other way around. The test resulted in suspension & the refs were told which way to bend the outcome.
Look at the 2000’s Lakers teams. Look at the Dallas Mavericks first trip to the finals. And look at the former NBA ref who went to prison for shaving points.
Take the commissioner & leave the refs.”
