“I want to start off by saying, I love this podcast, and I love that it speaks about topics in my faith. This allows me to feel closer to God through a forum of media I consume often. However, this latest podcast I found rather unsettling. I found Natalie Hill Jensen’s story fascinating to listen to, since we don’t often hear of Latter-Day Saints on broadway. However, I was quickly discouraged when she starting talking about her and her mothers qualities. That is honorable that she can talk about her mother in such a loving way, but I often felt that she put her and her mother on a pedestal. One of the things being how she said “she is taught to never be competitive” when ironically, she ends up on broadway, which requires intense competition to preform on. I feel like that is can be taken the wrong way by individuals who work for years to gain the opportunity that she has. Like i get it, you both have great qualities about yourself, but trials are what make me grow and feel closer to God. Not being so likable and volunteering all the time! I just wish Natalie spoke more on her hardship to get where she is so I can feel more connected to her story and have a better takeaway of what it means to be all in. I understand the point of this podcast is to have guests who are inspirational, but sometimes they can just be unrelatable. This is not a popular opinion by any means, but I just felt that it was important to share.”
