Called Out
I first heard Jon on another podcast where he was sharing the idea behind Soundtracks. When I tuned into his podcast I felt called out. He starts a lot of episodes with a little talk about how sound guys have heard it all, and, as a former live audio engineer, I know that feeling. I’ve worked countless self help seminars where the people on stage are behind paid oodles of money to utter things like “you too can eat a car!” (I wish I was kidding…) I, as a natural cynic, found these ideas to be laughable, and thought that the whole genre was a bad idea. But after being a crotchety old man of 27 for too long, I decided to give it a try. Jon’s personality won me over when he, another natural cynic, went on a little tangent about the mental gymnastics of finding parking at a restaurant. I had never related to something so much. So I wanted to thank Jon for calling me out countless times as a Canadian, cynic, and former sound guy. Soundtracks is a fantastic read/listen, and this podcast is a great start to any Monday.

I honestly listened with a loved ones dreams in mind, and listening for how I could support them. Little did I know, Jon would get me to examine my own dreams. I started out terrified, but am working on my list. Excited to see where this goes!
